Can You Control Another iPhone with iOS 18 Screen Sharing? YES!

Today I am going to share a feature of iOS 18 that will transform your iPhone experience into something more interactive and supportive. Whether you’re assisting a friend or family member with a tech issue, or simply want to showcase something on your phone, iOS 18’s screen sharing and control features are here to revolutionize the way you connect with others through your devices.

Imagine being able to see what’s on someone else’s screen, draw on it to guide them, or even control it to demonstrate solutions. With iOS 18, this vision is now a reality, and I’m excited to walk you through how it works.

Getting Started with Screen Sharing

To get started, ensure both iPhones involved are running iOS 18. This feature is not just about viewing someone else’s screen; it’s about interacting with it to provide support or collaborate effectively.

The process is quite simple and can be done using either the Messages app or FaceTime. Let’s dive into the details.

Using the Messages App

The Messages app offers a straightforward way to initiate screen sharing. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Open the Messages app on your iPhone.
  • Navigate to the conversation with the person whose screen you’d like to view.
  • Tap on the little video camera icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  • You’ll see options to “Share My Screen” or “Ask to Share Screen.” Choose the latter if you want to view their screen.

Once the request is accepted, you’ll be able to see their screen, and more importantly, interact with it.

Taking Control: Drawing and Navigating

One of the standout features of iOS 18 is the ability to draw on and control the shared screen. Once you’re viewing their screen:

  • Use the drawing tool to highlight areas or guide them through a process.
  • Tap on the control icon to start navigating their screen as if it were your own. This is perfect for demonstrating steps or troubleshooting.

Screen Sharing via FaceTime

Prefer FaceTime? No problem! The steps are just as easy:

  • Start a FaceTime call with the person whose screen you want to share.
  • During the call, access the controls in the dynamic island or control center.
  • Tap the screen sharing icon to either share your screen or request access to theirs.

Why This Matters

Screen sharing and control in iOS 18 are game-changers, especially for those of us who love to help others with their devices. You can now be the tech hero in your family, guiding them with ease and clarity.

I hope you find these new features as exciting and useful as I do. Embrace the power of screen sharing and take your iPhone interactions to the next level! Whether you’re helping a loved one or collaborating with a friend, iOS 18 makes it more seamless and effective than ever.
