Set your Default Browser

In this video, we’re going to look at how you can change the default browser on the iPhone. Maybe you want to change it from Safari over to Chrome or Duck Duck Go. You can now do that on the iPhone with iOS 14. Let’s see how this works. Let’s go to my iPhone.

The first thing you need to do to set your default browser, is download the browser that you want to use. Download the browser that you want to set as your default browser. This could be Chrome. This could be Duck Duck Go. I have; I’m going to swipe over to the left here; I have Duck Duck Go downloaded. Now that I have it downloaded. What I’m able to do is set this as my default browser. To do that, what I do is I go over to the Settings app. So I swipe back over to the left, and then I open up my settings app. Now what I need to do is I need to go to that browser settings. In my case, Duck Duck Go. If you want it to change to Chrome, you’d have to go to Chrome settings. If you want it to change it to Firefox, you’d have to go to Firefox settings. So I swipe up until I find Duck Duck Go. From here, when you tap on it, you’re going to see an option for default browser app. And we can see mine is set to Safari. You tap on this to change it, and then you change it to the browser that you want to use.

Once you change it, when you tap on a link, instead of opening it up in Safari, the iPhone will open up that link in your default browser. In my case, if I were to select this, it would open up in Duck Duck Go.

So that’s how we can set what our default browser is on the iPhone. Again, this was introduced in iOS 14. We first have to download the browser that we want to set as our default browser. We go to the Settings app, tap on that browser’s settings. And then, from there, you’ll be able to set it as your default browser. There’s only one catch to this. Not all browsers are able to be set as your default browser. Apple does have to approve it. So Apple approved Duck Duck Go here to be my default browser.

So that’s how you can set what browser you want to use as your default browser on the iPhone.
