App Library

In this video, we’re going to look at the app library on the iPhone. This was introduced with iOS 14. Let’s go to my iPhone.

Now a new feature that Apple added with iOS 14 is an app library. With the app library, we can see all of our different apps installed on our iPhone. So, where do we find this app library? Well, what we need to do is we need to go to the very last home screen. I have two home screens here, so I go to the last one. And now I swipe one more time. When I swipe one more time to the left, I am at my app library.

So what am I looking at here? Well, what Apple does is puts all of the different apps into different folders. We can see we have our ‘Recently Added’ folder here. I have ‘Suggestions’; these are Siri suggestions on which apps I may want to use. I can see all of my apps that are ‘Utilities.’ So, it puts all of my different apps into various folders. You can not change these folders.

How do we open these folders? Well, what we need to do is we need to tap on the four icons in the lower right-hand corner. This is how I open a folder. If I tap on any one of these apps here, then it’s going to open up that app. So if I were to tap on this, it would open up my Settings app. I tap on this; it’s going to open up my App Store. I tap on this; it’s going to open up this folder, my Utilities folder. And again, we cannot set which apps show in which folders here.

Another way of viewing all of your apps in the App Library, and this is my favorite way of doing it, is as a list. When I’m looking at my App Library here, and then I swipe down, we have a list of all of the apps installed on the iPhone, even if they were hidden. If you have some of your home screens hidden, if you saw that in another video I have where you can hide your home screens, your apps will still show up in the App Library and this list of apps. I swipe up, and I can see all of my apps in alphabetical order, tap on any one of them to open it up.

So that’s a look at the App Library. To access the App Library, we go to our last home screen and then swipe over to the left one more time. From there, you’re going to see all of your apps are going to be placed into different folders. If you want to see a list of all your apps, you swipe down while you’re looking at your app library, and then you can view all of your apps as a list in alphabetical order.
