Enable Caps Lock

In this video, we’re going to look at how we can turn on caps lock on the iPhone. Let’s go to my iPhone.

Let’s first see how the caps key works by default. I’m going to open up a new note here. I tap on Notes. I’m in a new note. Now by default, what’s going to happen is the first letter that I type is going to be capitalized and then it’s going to make all of the other letters smaller, lower case. So let’s type in Dan. I just go down to the D here, type it in. Type in the rest of my letters, and we can see that the first letter there is capitalized.

What I would like to do is I would like to capitalize all of the letters. How do we turn on caps lock? Well, the first thing we need to do is we need to make sure that it is enabled. So now what we do is we go to our Settings app. So I’m going to swipe up from the bottom here to get to my home screen, I do not have a home button, and now we go over to our Settings app. From here what we need to do is go to General. Under General, we have our various keyboard settings. One of the settings here is for Caps Lock. We need to make sure that this is enabled. We can see that mine is enabled.

So now how do I use caps lock? Well, let’s go back over to my note. I swipe up from the bottom again and we go over to my Notes app. In order to use caps lock, let’s go ahead and delete this, in order to use caps lock, what I need to do is double tap on the shift key. When I double tap on it, it is going to enable caps lock. So let’s go ahead and double tap on it. When I do that, you’re going to see that we have a small line under there, underneath the arrow. This is indicating that caps lock is on. So now I type in Dan again. And we can see that it is all an uppercase.

So how do we turn off our caps lock? Well, all we need to do is just tap on this again, and it turns it back into our regular shift key. So now, if I delete this, the first letter here will be capitalized, this is why the arrow is black, and every letter after that is going to be in lower case. This is why the arrow is hollow. I double tap on it, now caps lock is enabled, and every letter I type is going to be an uppercase or capitalized.

So that’s how we enable capsule lock on the iPhone. We basically have to make sure that it is enabled in our Settings app. This is under General and then Keyboard. Once we have it enabled, all we do is just double tap on the shift key. When we double tap on the shift key, anything that we type is going to be an upper case. I tap on the shift key again to disable it.
