Access App Store Updates from your Homescreen

In this video, I’m going to show you how you can update your apps from the home screen or from the App Store icon in the home screen. Let’s go to my iPhone.

Now, if you do not I have your apps in the App Store automatically update, you’re going to see I have my App Store here and I have six updates waiting for me, I do not have my apps automatically update. If you do not have them automatically update, the way that you update them is by tapping on this, to open it up, and then what you need to do is go over to your account here. And then from there you go to your Available Updates, I can tap on Update All or what I can do a swipe up to view the different updates, and then I can update them individually.

Well, there’s a few different steps there to get to this update screen. We can easily get to this update screen, where we can update all of our apps or update them individually, directly from the home screen. Let’s go back over to my home screen and I’ll show you how you do this. So I swipe up from the bottom here.

I’m back at my home screen. I want to see which apps need updating and update. Maybe I want to update them all or individually update them. To do that, all we have to do is just go over to our App Store. Instead of opening it up, we tap and hold on it or long press on it. We do this, we tap and hold on it long enough to get a menu that pops up. We don’t want to do this too long because otherwise we’re going to be able to edit our screen. So I tap and hold on this until I see a menu. And now what I do is I tap on Updates. What this will do is this will automatically take me to my updates so I can update all of my apps or see which apps need updating.

So I tap on this and it takes me over to my account automatically, and we can see which apps need updating. This is how I do it on my personal iPhone. I like to see what is new in the app, so I do not want to have them update automatically. I want to update them myself so I can see what is new. So now what I do is I just tap and hold on the App Store icon until the menu comes up. And then from there I tap on Updates. The iPhone will immediately take you to your account page, where you’re able to see all of the apps that need updates. From there, you’re able to update them all. You can see what is new in the updates, and you can update the apps individually.

So that’s how you can update your apps directly from the home screen on the iPhone.
