Quickly Scroll to the Top of an App on the iPad
Learn how to quickly scroll to the top of the iPad when in an app with a quick tap.
Did you know could quickly scroll to the top of an app with a simple tap? Just tap at the very top of your iPad’s display. When you do this, your iPad will automatically scroll back to the top of the app you are currently in. See how this works in this video for the iPad.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at how we can quickly scroll to the top of a window on the iPad. Let’s go to my iPad.
Now, what do I mean by scrolling to the top of a window? Well, let’s take a look at my Stocks app. I tap on it, it opens up over on the left side. We have all of the different stocks that I’m watching. If I scroll up, you’re going to see I have more stocks. Now, what I want to do is scroll back down to get to the top. I want to go to my first stock that I’m watching. Now one way of doing this is just by swiping back down and I can get to the top, but there’s an easier way.
All you have to do to scroll to the top is just tap at the very top of your iPad. When I tap here, watch what happens. It scrolls to the top. Now this list is not very long, so it’s very easy for me to just swipe down.
Let’s go over to the right here and take a look at some of these stories. I swipe up, I’m looking at these stories. Now, what I want to do is get back to the top. I want to scroll to the top. How do I do that? Well I could swipe to go down, but this is a little bit longer. I can keep swiping here. All I need to do to get to the top is just go to the very top of my iPad. I tap and it takes me to the top or it scrolls to the top.
Let’s take a look at this in the Notes app. I press on my home button. Now we’re going to go to my Notes. Tap on it. I have various notes here. I swipe up, I can go through all of my different notes. I want to scroll back to the top to look at my first note. All I need to do is just go up to the very top here, tap and it scrolls to the top.
Let’s look at the App Store. You can see this works in various apps. I go to the app. I’m looking at some of these apps. I keep scrolling. I want to get back to the top or scroll to the top. All I have to do is just tap at the very top here, scroll to the top.
We’re going to look at this in one more app Safari, because you may have to tap on it twice for Safari. Let’s go to my home button here and now we’re going to go to Safari. So I’m looking at my page here. I swipe, and now what I want you to do is scroll back to the top. To do that when you’re in Safari, if your toolbar is hidden, my toolbar here is hidden, if the toolbar is hidden, what you first need to do is show that toolbar. So now what I do is I tap here. My toolbar now is shown. Now what I can do is tap at the very top.
So it is a two-step process in Safari if your toolbars is hidden. We first have to show the toolbar. You can tap at the very top to show the toolbar, or you can swipe down a little bit. The toolbar will be shown. Once their toolbar is shown. You tap at the very top again, and your iPad will scroll to the top.
So that’s how we can quickly scroll to the top of a window on the iPad. All we need to do is just tap at the very top of the iPad. When you do that, the app will automatically scroll to the top if you scrolled down. Now, if you are in Safari, you do have to have the toolbar showing. So if the toolbar is showing, you just tap at the very top, it’ll scroll to the top. But if the toolbar is not showing, you tap once to show the toolbar and then you tap again, and then it’ll scroll.
So that’s how you can quickly scroll to the top of a window on the iPad.
