Schedule Notifications in a Summary on the iPad
Learn how to schedule when you want to receive notifications from specific apps on the iPad.
Learn how to schedule when you want to receive notifications from specific apps on the iPad. You can create multiple schedules and select specific notification to be includes in the summary. This was introduced in iPadOS 15. See how to schedule notification summaries in this video for the iPad.
Video TranscriptIn this video, we’re going to look at Notification Summaries on the iPad. With Notification Summaries, what we’re able to do a schedule when we want to receive specific notifications. We can get a summary of those notifications at a specific time. This was introduced with iPadOS 15. Let’s take a look at Notification Summaries on the iPad. Let’s go to my iPad.Now in order to schedule your Notification Summaries, the first thing we need to do is open up our Settings app. This is where we set up when we want to receive these notifications summaries and what we want to include in these notification summaries. So I tap on the Settings app. And now what we need to do is we need to go to Notifications.
At the very top, you’re going to see Scheduled Summary. Again, this was introduced with iPadOS 15. Let’s tap on this to turn it on and see how we set this up, and now what we need to do is we need to turn it on.
Once we turn it on, you’re going to see Schedule. This is where we can see what our schedule is for these Notification summaries. So I have one scheduled at 8:00 AM. Let’s say I wanted to receive another schedule in the evening. I want to receive one at 10:00 PM. So I tap on the green plus to add a Summary. You do have to tap on the green plus, and then we go over to the right and you set the time. I want this to be for 10:00 PM. So I set it for 10 PM there, and now I’m going to receive two different summaries. One of them at 8:00 AM and one of them at 10 PM.
Now what is going to be included in the Summary? Well, that’s where we go down to Apps in Summary. This is where we can set which apps are going to be included in this Notification Summary. So now I just go over to. A to Z, I can see all of my different apps which are sending me notifications.
Now, if you do not see an app in the this list here, it’s because of one reason – it isn’t sending notifications. Either the app doesn’t send notifications at all, so it’s not going to be included in here, or what you have is notifications turned off in that specific app. So you’ll have to go back over to Notifications and turn on notifications for that specific app. This is the only way that they will show up in this list, if they are actively sending notifications.
Now, if you want to include them in your notification summary, all you have to do is just go over to the right and turn them on. So let’s say I just wanted to receive notifications from the Music app in the morning and in the evening, I don’t want to receive them throughout the day. So I just go over to the right and I turn this on. Let’s take a look at Tips. I like the tips, but I only want to receive them in the morning and in the evening, I don’t want them to interrupt me throughout the day. So then you just go over to the right and you turn it on.
in you have them all set, those apps will only send you notifications and the Notification Summary. So I’m going to receive notifications from those two apps, the Music app and the Tips app at 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
So that’s how we use notification summaries on the iPad. Again, this was introduced with iPadOS 15. Basically what we’re able to do is schedule when we want to receive notifications from specific apps. We do this in the Settings app under Notifications. You just set up your schedules, you can have multiple schedules and then you set which apps you want to include in that summary. If the app is not shown, it does not either send notifications or you have notifications turned off.
So that’s how we use Notification Summaries on the iPad.
