Introduction to New Features

In today’s exploration of macOS Sequoia, I share the exciting new features in the Calendar and Reminders apps. These updates are designed to make managing your schedule and tasks more seamless and integrated. Whether you frequently use the Calendar for events or the Reminders app for to-dos, these enhancements are sure to simplify your daily planning.

Viewing Reminders in Calendar

One of the most noteworthy changes is the ability to view your reminders directly within the Calendar app. This means your to-dos are now mixed in with your calendar events, allowing you to see everything in one place. For example, if you’ve set a reminder to “mow the lawn,” it will appear alongside your scheduled events. From the Calendar app, you can mark reminders as done or edit them just like you would in the Reminders app.

Adding Reminders

Adding reminders is flexible and can be done in two ways. You can create them directly in the Reminders app by specifying a date, which automatically syncs them to your calendar. Alternatively, you can add them directly in the Calendar app using the new option to create a reminder. This integration ensures that your tasks and events are organized together, making it easier to track your commitments.

Managing Reminders Visibility

If you prefer not to see reminders in your Calendar, you can easily turn off this feature. The Calendar app subscribes to your scheduled reminders, and you can manage this visibility by toggling the “Scheduled Reminders” option in your calendar view. This allows you to customize your calendar experience to your preference.

Recovering Deleted Reminders

Another useful addition is the ability to recover deleted reminders. If you accidentally delete a reminder, it now goes to a “Recently Deleted” list, where it stays for up to 30 days. You can recover these reminders, and while they may not return to their original list, they will be restored to your default list, allowing you to reorganize them as needed.

Conclusion

These updates to macOS Sequoia’s Calendar and Reminders apps bring enhanced functionality and integration, making it easier than ever to manage your daily tasks and events. Whether you’re planning a meeting or keeping track of to-dos, these features are designed to help you stay organized and efficient. Enjoy the new capabilities and make the most of your Mac experience.
