Introduction

Your iPad’s Home Screens are where you keep your apps organized, and knowing how to manage them effectively can make your device much easier to navigate. Whether you want more space, fewer screens, or a better layout, the iPad offers simple tools to help you arrange your Home Screens in a way that fits how you use your device every day. In this video, I walk through what Home Screens are, how to create and remove pages, and how to keep everything organized with just a few steps.

What Is a Home Screen

A Home Screen is the page of apps you see every time you unlock your iPad. You can have just one screen or several, depending on how many apps you use and how you want them arranged. Each screen acts like a separate workspace, giving you the flexibility to separate personal apps, work tools, or frequently used items. Understanding how Home Screens work helps you create a layout that feels logical and efficient.

Switch Pages

Moving between Home Screen pages is simple. You can swipe left or right to access additional pages, and small dots at the bottom of the screen show how many pages you have and which one you’re currently viewing. This makes it easy to jump between different groups of apps as you multitask on your iPad.

Create a New Page

When you need more space for your apps or widgets, you can create a new Home Screen page. To do this, you enter “jiggly mode” by pressing and holding on an empty area of the screen. From there, drag an app to the far right edge of your current screen. As soon as you reach the edge, a new page appears, allowing you to drop the app there. This is helpful when reorganizing a crowded Home Screen or setting up themed pages for specific tasks.

Remove a Page

If you no longer need one of your Home Screens, you can remove it. While in jiggly mode, tap the page navigation dots at the bottom. This brings up a full view of all your pages. Each page has a checkbox beneath it. Unchecking a page removes it from your view. If the page has apps on it, those apps move to the App Library, so you never lose anything—just the page layout itself.

Rearrange Pages

You can also rearrange your Home Screen pages to change their order. Still within the page overview, drag a page to a new position. This helps you prioritize the screens you use most frequently, making them easier to reach with fewer swipes. It’s a simple way to personalize how your iPad presents your apps.

Hide Pages

Hiding a Home Screen page is helpful when you want to simplify your layout without deleting anything. In the same page overview, you can uncheck a page to hide it temporarily. The apps remain available in the App Library, and you can bring the page back anytime by checking it again. This is great for minimizing distractions or keeping certain apps out of sight until you need them.

Wrap Up

Being able to create, remove, rearrange, and hide Home Screen pages gives you a flexible way to keep your iPad organized. Once you know where these options are and how they work, you can adjust your layout whenever your needs change. Whether you’re keeping your Home Screens streamlined or building multiple pages for different tasks, these tools make it easy to stay organized and in control of your iPad.
