Chapters:
- Introduction
- Group Notes by Date
- New Smart Folder Options
- Conclusion
When we’re looking at a specific folder of notes, what we’re able to do is change the sort order. So if I go up to more here in the upper right hand corner of my sidebar, you’re going to see sort by, and then from here, what I’m able to do is select how I want it sorted. Well, when we sorted by the date created or even date edited, what we’re able to do is view it by date. So here are all my notes from today. Here are all my notes from the previous seven days. And here are all my notes from the previous 30 days, we can do the same thing when we’re looking at it sorted by date added. Now, of course, if I go and change the sort order to title, we do not have that. Also, like I mentioned, when we go to all of our notes, we cannot sort it by date created, so you’re not going to be able to view them by day, or group them together by day. So if you want to see all of your notes grouped by day, which is a great view, I really like this, what you’ll first have to do is go over to a specific folder.
Another new feature that they added was smartlace. Actually, they didn’t add it, they improved on it. And they greatly improved on what our smartlace Well, basically what we’re able to do is create a folder based on specific criteria. These are called Smart lists. So I could create a folder of all of my notes that have a specific tag in them. Now that is nothing new. But what they did do is they greatly improved on what we can use for a criteria. Let’s go and create a new smart folder. To do that, all I have to do is just go down to my new folder icon in the lower left hand corner.
And you can see that I can just create a new folder, that’s not what I want to do, I want to create a smart folder. So now I just tap on make into smart folder. And you’re going to see I have a number of different criteria that I can base the smart folder on. So if I want to include specific tags, all I do is just go over to the right here, and I select what tags I want, I can have it be any tag, I can have a beat any selected tag, or I can have it be all selected tags. And then if I want it based off of any note that does not have a tag in it at all, I can also do that. So let’s go with no tags, I can add more filters. So let’s go create it, I want to find all of the notes that have been created in the last seven days. So now just go here to seven days, maybe I want to include a filter for notes that have checklists in them selected.
And I go any. So now this smart filter that I’m creating has to match all of these filters, it cannot have any tags in it. It has to be created in the last seven days, and it has to have any checklist in it. If it doesn’t match all three of those filters, it is not going to be included in my smart list. We can also have match any of the filters. So now instead of all just has to match any of it. So now it will include any note that doesn’t have a tag in it or any note that was created in the last seven days, or any note that has a checklist in it.
So we have a lot more options with smart lists smart lists got a lot smarter, let’s just say that. So that is what’s new with the Notes app with iPad os 16. We can now view our notes by day we do have to sort by created date are added to date, which means we have to select a specific folder in order to sort it. Also what we have are smarter smart lists. We have more filters and we can select what we want to include or do not want to include in those filters. So that is what’s new with the Notes app with iPad os 16
