Filter Photos from within Albums
Learn how to filter photos and videos from within an album in the Photos app on the iPad.
In this video, I show you how you can further filter your photos in the Photos app on the iPad. As an example, what you would like to do is just see your favorite photos within an album you have in the Photos app. Or maybe you want to see just the videos within an album. You do this through filtering, introduced in iPadOS 14. See how filtering works in the Photos app on the iPad in this video.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at the new filtering options we have available to us in the photos app. These new filtering options were introduced with iPadOS 14. Let’s see how we can filter our photos and videos in the Photos app.
Let’s go to my iPad. So I’m in my photos app here. And if we look on the left side, you’re going to see that we have a new sidebar from here. I can select different photos as an example. I can select my favorites here. To view all of my photos. I go back up to my library. I swipe up, and I can view all of my panoramas. I can view all of my videos. I can view all of the photos in specific albums here, but we can take a step further. Let’s go and take a look at my 2020 photos here.
Now, what I would like to do is I would like to view just my favorites in this album. How do I do that? If I go back up to Favorites here. It’s going to show me all of my favorites. I want to view my favorites that are in my 2020 photos. To do that, what we do is we go up to the more button here where we have these three dots.
You’re going to see an option for filtering. When I tap on this, I’m able to filter within my album. So I want to view all of my favorite photos within my album here. All I do is tap on favorites here, and it’s showing me I’m going to tap on done here. It’s showing me all of my favorite photos and videos.
So we can see here that this is a photo while this is a video. I can see that favorites are filtering it. I have nine photos and one video. To change the filter. I go up to my filter here. We have our window that shows up, and let’s go and change it to just photos.
So now when I tap on done, what it’s going to do is it’s only going to show me my favorite photos. And now we can see, we have my nine photos. It is no longer showing that video. I want to see my favorite videos. I tap on the filter button here, and then I tap on videos. I de-select photos. And now we can see, it’s only showing me my one video.
So that’s how we can further filter our photos and videos in the Photos app on the iPad. We first select in the sidebar, what photos and videos we want to see or view. This could be videos, selfies, live photos, portraits, or any one of our albums, from there. If we want to filter her further, we go up to the more button in the upper right-hand corner.
This is where the three dots are tap on that. And then you’re going to see filter, tap on filter, and you’re further able to filter. Your photos and videos. So now what you’re able to do is select your favorite photos within a certain album, your edited photos within a certain album, or maybe just the videos within a certain
So that’s how you filter your photos in the Photos app with iPadOS 14.
