Create Shared Albums in Photos (iOS 18)
Introducing Shared Albums
Shared Albums in the Photos app offer a simple way to share pictures and videos with others. Instead of sending individual photos through Messages or Mail, users can create a Shared Album and invite people to view or contribute to it. This method is especially helpful for sharing vacation photos, family events, or everyday moments with loved ones.
Viewing Shared Albums
To view shared content, open the Photos app and go to the Albums tab. Under the Shared Albums section, the albums that others have shared or that the user has created will appear. Tapping on one of these opens it up, showing all the photos and videos inside. Each item shows who added it, and any comments or likes others have made are displayed underneath.
Adding Photos and Videos
Users can add their own photos and videos to a Shared Album by tapping the plus icon. From there, they can select what they want to include and post it to the album. Once added, anyone who has access to the album will see the new content and can leave comments or like the additions.
Creating a New Shared Album
To start a new Shared Album, open the Photos app and tap the plus icon in the top-left corner of the Albums tab. Choose New Shared Album, then give it a name and select people to invite. The user can invite contacts through Messages or by entering email addresses. Once the album is created, any invited person can view its contents and, if allowed, add their own items.
Managing Shared Album Settings
Each Shared Album has its own settings. These include options to allow subscribers to post, to create public websites for viewing the album in a browser, and to receive notifications when someone adds a photo or comment. These settings can be adjusted by tapping the People button while viewing a Shared Album.
Deleting a Shared Album
If the user no longer needs a Shared Album, it can be deleted. From the Shared Albums section, tap Edit, then tap the red minus button next to the album name. Confirm the deletion when prompted. This removes the album from the user’s device and also from everyone else who was invited.
A Convenient Way to Share Memories
Shared Albums provide a private and organized way to keep in touch through photos and videos. Whether it’s a special event or just everyday moments, they offer a reliable and simple way to share life’s memories with the people who matter most.
