Did you know you could adjust or change the date and time of a photo or video using the Photos app on the Mac? If your camera has the wrong date or time, you may want to look at this video where you can learn how to adjust the date and time of when a photo or video was taken.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, I’m going to show you how you can change the dates of photos in the Photos app on the Mac. Let’s go to my Mac.
Now, when we look at the metadata of a photo, what we can do is we can see when that photo was taken. As an example, let’s go to this photo here. I select it. And then to view the metadata, what we do is we go up to the i here. When I click on it, we have a new window that opens up and I have all of the metadata. This was taken with a Sony. I can see the size. But in addition to that, you’re also going to see the date that it was taken.
Now, let’s say you had the date wrong in the camera. This is where it gets the date from, from the camera itself. You need to change that date. We have a couple of different ways to change this date.
What I could do is I could double click on this, and it brings up the Adjust Date and Time. Now, what I need to do is I need to close or move this info window here. And now what I’m able to do is adjust the date.
Another way. Let’s go ahead and cancel this, and I’m going to close my info window here. Another way is by selecting the photo or photos, you can select multiple photos and videos to change the date. Once I have them selected, I go up under Image in the menu bar, and then we go over to Adjust Date and Time. So now I select this and now I’m able to change the date of any photos and videos that I have selected.
We can see what the original date is here, and let’s say this was actually taken in October. So now I just go to the 9 here I type in a 10. And the original photo will be adjusted by one month once I click on adjust. I can also set what the time zone is.
So that’s how we just the date and time of our photos and videos in the Photos app. We have a couple of different ways to do this when we’re viewing our metadata. All we have to do is just double click on the date and it’ll open up the window where we can adjust our date and time. If you need to adjust the date and time, have several photos, you can select those. And then you go up under Image in the menu bar and select Adjust Date and Time. From there, you just change the date and time. Click on adjust, and it’ll adjust the date and time for all those photos that you have selected.
So that’s how you can adjust or change the date and time of photos and videos in the Photos app on the Mac.
