In this video, I’m going to show you how you can send a database document to another user in Tap Forms 5. When we send a document, it doesn’t actually sync it, what you’re doing is creating a duplicate and sending that duplicate to another device, to someone else. Let’s see how we do this. Let’s go to .
To send a database document, what we first need to do is go to our database document window. So I’m going to close out of this database document here. Now what I do is go up under Window in the menu bar. And then we go over to our Database Documents. This is where I get an overview of all of my database documents.
From here what I’m able to do is send one of these database documents to another device. This could be to any other person. When I do that, as I mentioned in the introduction, when I do that, it actually creates a duplicate, it does not set up syncing. It creates a duplicate. So once I send this to someone else, if they go and add a record or modify record, it is not going to modify it on my Mac. It is not going to modify it in my Tap Forms 5. If I were to go and add or delete or modify record, it will not modify it on the other person’s device. It is a duplicate at that point. So, what you could do here is create a database document and then share with someone else, and then they can use it for their own use. Again, it does not keep them in sync.
So now how do I share one of these database documents? Well we do this through AirDrop. So let’s say I wanted to share my database document My Forms. I select it, and then all I need to do is just click on the share icon here. And if the other person opens up AirDrop, all I have to do is just select their device. Once I do that, Tap Forms 5 will share that database document with that other person.
So that’s all we have to do to share a database document with another person. Again, it does not sync those database documents. All you’re doing is creating a duplicate. To share a database document, all you have to do is just go to your database document manager. This is where we can see all of our different database documents. I select which database document I want to share. And then I click on the share icon. I open up AirDrop on my other device. It’ll show up on my Mac. And then from there I can share that database document. It’ll send it over to that other device. It’ll send a duplicate over to that other device.
So that’s how we share a database document with Tap Forms 5 on the Mac.
