Working with the Sidebar
Learn about the different options available in the sidebar of Tap Forms 5 on the Mac.
With the sidebar in Tap Forms 5, we can see all of our forms, but did you know you could hide this sidebar? Or add more contrast by making it darker? Or even just show your forms which have records in them? See the different options we have available with the sidebar in Tap Form 5 in this video.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at the forms sidebar in more detail; basically, we can easily see all of our different forms that have records in them, we can change the color of the sidebar, we can search for different Forms. Let’s take a look at the forms sidebar in Tap Forms 5 on the Mac. Let’s go to my Mac.
So if we go over to the left, we have my different forms here. I have two different forms, and they’re categorized. Now, if I am working on a single form, let’s go over to Grocery List; what I want to do is I want to focus on this list. So now I need to hide my forms list here. I do not want to see all of the other Forms. Well, to do that, what we do is we go up under View in the Menu Bar. And then, we go to Hide Forms list. If your keyboard shortcut fan, you can use command-8. I select this, and now I’m just working on my Grocery List too. Show the forms again, I just go back up under View, and then we go over to Show Forms List. Again, I can also use command-8, and now I’m looking at all of my forms.
If you have many forms, what you may want to do is search for a form. Go down to the bottom and type in what you’re looking for.
I can change the background of this sidebar. I like to have it a little bit darker. To do that, what we do is we go up to our Tap Forms 5 Preferences. So I go to Tap Forms 5 in the Menu Bar, and then we go over to Preferences. From here, we have a new window that opens up—our Preferences. We make sure that we’re looking at General, and you’re going to see Forms List Theme. I’m going to set it to Dark. I click on Done, and now we can see we have a darker list there.
You’ll also notice that we have All Forms up here. What this is going to do is show you all of your different forms, but when you click on it, you’re going to see you have My Forms. What are My Forms? Well, My Forms are any forms that you have records in. So I have a record in both my grocery list and my tools form. So if I go back up to my All Forms and select My Forms, you’re going to see my Grocery List form, and you’re going to see my Tools form. That is because they both have records in them. So if you just want to see your forms that have records in them, you just go up under My Forms. You want to see all of your Forms, you go back to All Forms, and now you can see all of your Forms.
So that’s a look at our forms sidebar. We can hide the sidebar by going to the Menu Bar. We can change the background by going to Tap Forms 5’s Preferences. We can search the sidebar for our different forms, and then we can also just view forms that have records in them.
So that is a look at the forms sidebar in Tap Forms 5 on the Mac.
