View Records in a Multi-Column View

In this video, we’re going to be looking at Tap Forms 5 multi-column view. With multi-column view, our records assume more of a table like display, much like a spreadsheet. Let’s see what I mean. Let’s go to my Mac.

So I’m back in My Albums here and I’m looking at my single column view. Well, if we go over to the right, our next button here for views is called a multi-column view. With this view here, our records are shown with a more table like display, much like a spreadsheet. We can see the top part here is displayed like a table, like a spreadsheet. We have our different rows here, and then we also have our different columns here. I can sort these columns and then I can also resize these columns. I go over to the right here, you can see the cursor change, and I just drag this over and I can resize that column. Now this is a split view, which means that the detail for anything that I do have selected in this table view is going to show below. So I have Al Green here selected, and then if we go down towards the bottom, we go to our Default Layout. We can see we have all the details about that album. I select CCR here, the details down here below in my split column view, show me all of the details for that particular album. So it divides our view into two. We have our table view at the top with our details down at the bottom.

Now we do have a few options for this. If we go over to the right, we can select the size of our text. We just slide this to the left or right to resize our table view. I can also change the view by clicking on the Section Index here. When I click on this, I’m able to hide the different sections. So we can see that they are sections. Here are all my Beatles albums. Here are all my Commodores albums. I do not want to see these by album. I want to remove the sections. I go over to Hide Sections here and now we can see those sections are no longer there to show the sections. Again, we go back over to our icon here, click on it, and then we show our sections. I can also show our group summaries.

And if I want to go to a specific album, I can select a specific out on here. This only shows when I am showing my sections. If I go to Hide Sections here, you’re going to see I cannot select a specific album. I click on Show Sections, and now again, I’m able to select a specific album.

So that’s our split column view we have in Tap Forms 5. Basically it splits our view into two. We have a table view at the top, much like a spreadsheet, and then our details down at the bottom. We can customize what is shown there. We can change the size of the text in our table, and then we can also hide and show our different sections.
