16 Tips for the Reminders app on the iPhone
Organize Smart Lists
Learn how to show and hide your smart lists, as well as reorganize how they are shown in the Reminders app on the iPhone.
With iOS 14 on the iPhone, you can now organize your smart lists in the Reminders app. These smart lists include all your reminders, reminders due today, reminders that are assigned to you, and all your reminders that are scheduled. Now, with iOS 14, you can hide these smart lists, as well as reorder them. See how to organize your smart lists in the Reminders app on the iPhone with iOS 14.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at how we can organize our smart lists in the Reminders app on the iPhone. This was introduced with iOS 14. Let’s see how we organize our smart lists in the Reminders app. Let’s go to my iPhone.
Let’s first open up the Reminders app. Now, when we’re looking at all of my different lists here, above the lists, we have what we call smart lists. I have all of my scheduled reminders. I have my reminders that are due today. I can see all of my reminders, as well as any reminders that are assigned to me. This is another new feature in iOS 14. We can assign reminders. I’ll talk about that in another video. And then we have our flagged reminders. These are what we call smart lists.
What we’re able to do now is organize these smart lists. We can hide individual smart lists as well as arrange them. So let’s say I do not use flagged in my Reminders. I don’t flag my reminders. So I do not want to see this smart list. Also, what I would like to do is I would like to move ‘All’ to the top here where ‘Scheduled’ is. So I need to remove a smart list as well as rearrange them. How do we do that? We just go up to ‘Edit’ in the upper right-hand corner. And then from here, we’re able to hide smart lists, we just deselect any of the smart lists we no longer want to see, and then we can rearrange them by dragging these around.
So I do not want to see “Flagged’ here. All I have to do is just deselect it, and it will no longer show. I want to move ‘All’ towards the top, so it’s at the top of my reminders lists. I take these three lines; I drag them up to the top. And now ‘All’ is going to be at the top. So now, let’s tap on done and take a look at my changes. We can see we have ‘All’ at the top, and I no longer can see my ‘Flagged. Reminders, because I don’t use that feature.
So that’s how we can edit our smart lists. Our smart lists are where we can find all of our Reminders – our scheduled Reminders, our Reminders that are due today, Reminders assigned to us, and flagged Reminders. To edit these smart lists, you just go up to edit in the upper right-hand corner. And then, from there, you’re able to deselect any of the smart lists you no longer want to see, as well as rearrange them.
So that’s how we edit our smart lists in the Reminders app on the iPhone.
