Creating a Grocery List in the Reminders App

The Reminders app includes a special option to create a Grocery List. When adding a new list, users can tap on “List Type” and select “Grocery List.” This setting enables the app to automatically organize grocery items as they’re added. Once selected, the list can be named and created like any other reminder list.

Items Are Automatically Sorted Into Categories

When grocery items are added to the Grocery list, the app automatically sorts them into common categories. For example, if someone types in bananas, chicken, and eggs, each item is placed into a different section—such as Produce, Meat, and Dairy. This helps group items by type, making it easier to find everything when shopping.

Sharing the Grocery List with Others

Grocery Lists can be shared with family or friends. Long pressing on the list in Reminders will show a contextual menu, tap on on the Share List to invite others. Once shared, everyone can view, add, and check off items. This is helpful for households where multiple people contribute to the shopping or meal planning.

Adding the Grocery List to the Home Screen

For quick access, a Grocery List can be added directly to the Home Screen using the Shortcuts app. This involves creating a simple shortcut that opens the list. After setting it up, the shortcut can be added to the Home Screen, making it easy to get to the list without opening the Reminders app first.

A Helpful Way to Stay Organized

The Grocery List feature in the Reminders app makes everyday shopping more convenient. With automatic sorting, easy sharing, and quick access from the Home Screen, it offers a simple way to keep grocery trips organized and efficient.
