New date and Time Picker
Learn how the new date and time picker works in the Reminders app on the iPad.
Apple introduced a new date and time picker with iPadOS 14. You no longer need to swipe or scroll through dates and times to select a time for a reminder. You now choose a date by tapping on a date in a calendar, and for the time, you just tap in a time using a virtual keypad. See how the new date and time picker work in the Reminders app in this lesson for the iPad.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at the new date and time picker Apple added to the Reminders app with iPadOS 14. Let’s go to my iPad. So I’m in my Reminders app. Let’s go and add a new reminder. This is going to be added to my reminders list. I tap on new reminder. And then, I start typing what the reminder is. Let’s go with drop package off to UPS. So I type it in, in here.
Now what I am going to do is add a date to this. So it’s going to remind me at a specific date and a specific time. To do that, we go over to our ‘i’; from here; you’re going to see date and time. The first thing we’re going to do is add date. I tap on this. You’re going to see we have a new date picker. All I do from here is tap on the date that I want this reminder to notify me.
Let’s take a look at our time picker. I tap on the slider. And instead of scrolling through the different times, this is how we did it in past versions of iPadOS; now, all I need to do is just type in what time I want the reminder to remind me. I set it for AM or PM, and now I’ve just set a date and a time for this reminder. We can see it’s a lot easier than scrolling through dates and times. Again, which is what we had to do in past versions of iPadOS. It’s now going to remind me on October 28 at 2:00 PM.
That’s how the new date and time picker work in the Reminders app. Apple also introduced this in other apps as well. You’ll find this in the Calendar app as well as other Apple apps. With the new date and time picker, you no longer have to scroll through the dates or times. With the date picker, you tap on the date in a calendar, and with the time, you tap in your time through a keypad.
So that’s the new date and time picker we have in the Reminders app on the iPad.
