In this video, we’re going to look at how we can now assign a reminder to someone in a shared list in the Reminders app on the iPad. This feature was introduced with iPadOS 14. Let’s go to my iPad.
So I’m in my Reminders app. And if we look here at my lists, you’re going to see; I have a shared list. This particular list is shared with Troy. Now what we’re able to do with these shared lists is assign a reminder to anyone we share the list with. How do we do that? Well, the first thing we need to do is we need to create a reminder. So I’m going to tap on this. And now I go down to new reminder here. Let’s type in here ‘pick up package.’
Now when I hide this keyboard here, this reminder will be available to anyone I am sharing this list with. So I’m sharing this list with Troy. Troy is going to be able to see this reminder here. But as I mentioned earlier, in addition to sharing this reminder, I can now assign it. To assign it. We tap on it, and then we go over to our ‘i,’ and you’re going to see an option, being that this is in a shared list, for assign reminder.
I want to assign this to Troy, who I am sharing the list with. So I tap on it, and then I swipe up, and you’re going to see all of the names of everyone that you’re sharing your list with. From there, you tap on who you want to assign the reminder to. So I’m going to assign it to Troy. We can see it as now assigned to Troy. And when I tap on done. It’s going to apply those changes, and we can see that it is assigned to Troy here. I do have a few options here. When I tap on this icon here, I can view the contact; I can reassign this to someone else that is in my shared list and remove the assignment.
If you have any assigned reminders in your list, you’re going to see them in the assigned list here. So when Troy looks at his Reminders app, when he goes to assigned here, it’s going to show him that one assigned reminder.
Now, if you’re not familiar with how to share a list, all you have to do is select the list. I’m going to go to family here, and then you go up to the three dots here, the more button, and you’re going to see share. I tap on share. And then, from there, I select how I want to share the list. The person that I share the list with is going to get an invitation. And then from there, once you accept the invitation, you’re going to be able to sign them a reminder. So that’s how we assign a reminder in the Reminders app on the iPad.
We first have to share the list. Once we share the list, while we’re able to do it, once we create a reminder, it is assigned that reminder to anyone we share our list with. If we have any reminders assigned to us in a shared list, you’ll find them in the assigned list.
So that’s how we assign reminders and the Reminders app on the iPad.
