Surprise! Your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is worth a little more today
While these things generally move in the other direction, Apple has surprisingly raised the maximum amount of money it offers for trade-ins on a host of popular products.
When you trade in your old Apple product toward the purchase of a new one, you can now earn just a bit more money (assuming your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch is in good condition). Most of the maximum trade-in values have increased from $5 to $20, with a few outliers offering more, including MacBook Air and Mac mini.
Some example trade-in values:
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: increased $10 from $685 to $695
- iiPhone 16: Increased $25 from $435 to $460
- Apple Watch Series 9: Increased $10 from $120 to $130
- MacBook Air: Increased $35 from $485 to $520
- Mac mini: Increased $35 from $340 to $375
- iPad Pro: Increased $20 from $670 to $690
- iPad Air: Increased $15 from $445 to $460
Not all prices went up, however. The Apple Watch Series 10 ($150) and iMac ($355) prices remain unchanged, and the Apple Watch Ultra actually went down $10 from $215 to $205. Trade-in values for most Android phones went down or remain unchanged, too.
The new prices likely reflect the cost of components inside the products being traded in. To get the maximum value for a trade-in, your device needs to be working and in good condition, which means the chip inside works. And each of those chips contains RAM, which is in short supply at the moment.
