In this video, we’re going to look at Database Maintenance in5Tap Forms five on the Mac. With Database Maintenance, basically what we can do is we can compact the database. We can remove any unused data, thereby reducing the size of our database document. It’s pretty simple. Let’s see how this works. Let’s go to my Mac.
So I am in Tap Forms 5 and what I would like to do is perform some maintenance on this database. I need to reduce the size of it. Basically when we reduce the size of it, what Tap Forms 5 does is it removes any unused data thereby reducing the size. So how do we do that? Pretty simple. All we have to do is just go up under Tap Forms 5 in the menu bar, and then we go over to our Preferences. You’re going to see an option here for Maintenance, and under Maintenance we basically have one option – compact our database. When I click on this, it’s going to reduce the size of the database by removing any unused data.
So we can see that my database size is 23.9 megabytes. Let’s see what happens when I compact it. I click on Compact Database. And we can see it reduced it down to 18 megabytes. So it removed about five megabytes of unused data. The database still has all of my records in there. It just doesn’t have any unused data in there when you are done. All you have to do is just click on Done to close the window, and you can continue working in your database.
So that’s how maintenance works with Tap Forms 5. With Maintenance, what we’re able to do is basically reduce the size of our database document by compacting it. How do we do that? We go over to our Tap Forms 5 preferences. This is located under Tap Forms 5 in the menu bar. When we open up our preferences, we go to Maintenance and click on Compact database. When it is finished, you just click on Done and then you can continue working on your database.
So that’s how maintenance works with Tap Forms 5 on the Mac.
