Learn how to create and use email templates in the Spark mail app for the Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
With the Spark mail app, you can create and use templates for emails that you respond to or write. What are templates? Pre-written emails, such as a sales letter or thank you letter. Not only can you select from multiple templates, but you can use them as starting point and modify them specifically for your email. These templates sync across your Mac, iPad, and iPhone as well! See how to create and use templates in this video for the Spark Mail app on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Note: This video was created using Spark 2. Readdle has released a new version since then. The new version has a fresh new look, but many of the features highlighted here are in the new app, as well as the older one. Here is a link to the older version which the tutorial is based upon: https://sparkmailapp.com/spark2 Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the developer, I just like the app. ???? In this video, we’re going to look at how we create and use templates, email templates and spark. We’re going to look at this on the Mac, iPad and iPhone. Now, what are email templates? Well, basically what we can do when we respond to someone, or if we are creating a new email, what we can do is we can select from a number of different templates that we create could be a thank you letter or a sales letter, whatever we want, we add that template to an email that we’re responding to or creating. And then from there, what we’re able to do is modify that so we can use it as a good starting point.
And again, we can do this on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone. And when we add it to any one of our devices, it is added as a template to all of our other devices. So we could create it on the Mac. And we’re going to have access to that template from our iPad or our iPhone as well. Let’s see how this is done. We’re first going to look at this on the Mac. So I’m looking at Spark here. And what I would like to do is reply to this email here with a template, maybe a thank you template. So how do we do that? Well, basically, what we do is we reply, so I’m going to go to reply here. And what we now need to do is select from our templates, you’re gonna see down at the bottom, we have this little icon here, this is my template. When I click on it, what I’m able to do is add a template, I do not have any templates, so I have to add one first.
So let’s go ahead and add one, click on it, you’re gonna see that we have our template, here it is blank. So the first thing that we need to do is name it and then put the content in there. So what I’m going to do is name this, we’re going to call this thank you, I can have a default to I’m going to leave that blank, I can also add a subject, we’re going to add a subject to this. Thanks. And then we put in our text here, and we can even use rich text, you’re going to see that we can add bold, italicize, underline, let’s go ahead and add a template in here I have something in my clipboard that I’m going to paste in here. So there’s my template. Let’s go ahead and delete some of this here. We’re going to make this a little bit prettier here. Put some paragraphs in here.
And now we can see that we have a name here. So what I’m going to do is change this, what I will usually do here is just type in a bunch of capital letters. So let’s just go with name, that will tell me that I need to replace that name, you want to make sure that you replace that name, you may want to leave a blank. But I’m just going to leave it with name here. So now I’ve created my template. Now all we need to do to use it is just go back over to template. And then we just select my thank you. When I do this, what it’s going to do is place that template in that email. So now I can just double click on name and type in his name Johnny. From here, I just go and click on Send and it’ll send it with that template. I want to create another template, I just go over to my templates here. And what I’m able to do is manage them, which means I can also create new ones, I can edit my existing templates. And if I want to remove it or add a new one, I just go down to the plus or minus here.
We can also find this in our preferences, I’m going to close this here. And if we go to sparks preferences, you’re going to see up at the top here, we have templates, I select it, and now I can go and manage my templates. So that’s how we manage that on the Mac. Let’s see how we do this on the iPad. On the iPad, what we do is create a new email or reply to an email I’m going to create a new one. And from here, what we do is we go up to the top you’re going to see that we have our template icon. I click on it. And there’s my thank you it does synchronize I created this on my Mac. And being that I’m signed in with the same iCloud account, it brought it over to my iPad and you’ll soon see that it will bring it over to my iPhone to any changes I make here will also be reflected on all my devices. So now I just click on it and we can see it added that template and I can go in here and click and change the name. I want to add another template or modify this one. Again, I can go up to my template here. This is the easiest way and then we go over to add and I’m able to add a new template. If I want to modify it. What I do is go over to these three horizontal lines in the upper left hand corner. We go down to settings at the very bottom.
And then what we have here are my email templates. I Select it. And then from here, what I’m able to do is click on this to modify this one. If I want to add a new one, I click on add here. And I can go in add a new one, I name it. So we’re just going to call this one test. And we’ll just put in there. Hi, just make this one real simple. Let’s put a subject in there of high. And again, I like to leave the two blank because I don’t know who I’m going to be sending this out to. And now I just click on Save. And you can see that I have my two templates there.
To use it, type a new email, I go to my template, and there’s my test, click on it. And we can see it added the subject as well as the body in there. On the iPhone basically works the same way. I’m going to go to my iPhone here. And to use a template, we reply to an email or create a new one, you’re gonna see we have the templates down at the very bottom. And then from here, I can tap on any one of my templates, I can create a new one by tapping on ad in the upper right hand corner. And if I want to modify any of them or remove any of them, I tap on the three lines in the upper left hand corner. We go down to settings at the very bottom, and then you’re going to see email templates. Tap on that. And from here, I’m able to delete any of my templates, tap on it to make any changes to it. And if I want to add one I tap on Add in the upper right hand corner. So that’s how we create email templates would spark on the Mac, iPad and iPhone
