Find and Copy Usernames & Passwords on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone
Find where you can look up and copy usernames and passwords on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
Do you know where to find your saved usernames and passwords on the Mac? Or iPad and iPhone? In this video, I show you where you can find them, as well as copy a username and password, on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
Video TranscriptionIn this video, we’re going to look at how we can find our usernames and passwords on the Mac, iPad and iPhone, what we can do is we can easily find a username and password and copy that, and then paste it into a website or maybe paste it into a note. Let’s first look at this on the Mac. Now on the Mac, we have a couple of different ways to do this. And it depends on which Mac OS you’re using. If you’re using Big Sur, or later, Mac OS, Big Sur or Mac OS, Monterey, you can do this through the System Preferences. So I go up to my Apple menu, we go over to our System Preferences, we have a preference pane for passwords. I click on this, I enter in my password. And now I can view all of my different passwords. If you’re using an older version of MacOS, we do this through safaris preferences, so I go down to Safari here. And then what we do is we go to Safari Preferences. So I go up to Safari in the menu bar, we go over to preferences, and then we go over to passwords. Again, I enter in my password. And now I can view all of my passwords here. So now how do we view what a specific password it is, maybe I want to copy that password? Well, the first thing we have to do is we have to go and find it, you will see that we do have a search up here.
So I have one for demo site. This is one that I created for this lesson here, I want to view what that password is, all I do is just click on this, we can see what the site is here, we can easily see what the username is here. And when I click on it, I can copy that. And then if I want to see the password, or copy it, what I do is I click on this or hover over it, I can see that what the password is. And then when I click on it, I can go and copy that. All I do is just select this. And now I can paste it into a note or paste it into the site, or even share with someone via messages if you wanted to do that. So that’s how we can easily look up are different usernames and passwords on the Mac. Well, what about the iPad and iPhone? Well, let’s go over to my iPad and iPhone and find out, we’re first going to look at this on the iPad. I go over to my iPad here.
And what we need to do is go into our settings app. From here we swipe up until we find passwords. From here, I can view all of my different passwords. If I want to search, I go up to the top here, and I can search. So let’s go with demo site. There is my demo site. I’d like to view that password or copier, all I have to do is just click on it. I can view what the username is here. And then if I were to click on this, I’d be able to see the password. Now being that I am using AirPlay to show this when I click on this, I can actually see what that password is, but you cannot it is hiding it from you. But just be sure that it is showing it here. When I click on it. If you were to click on it on your iPad, you would see the password here. Also, what you can do is copy that. If I wanted to copy the username again, I can go and copy the username. What about the iPhone? Well, it works very similar to the iPad. As you can imagine, I go into my settings app, we go up to passwords. And then we search. So I’m going to go and tap on search. We type in demo. We have my demo site. You can see my username and password, I want to copy the username I tap on and I can copy that I want to see the password or maybe copy it, I tap on it. And again, you’re not going to be able to see it. But if you were to do this on your iPhone, you would see the password.
It’s just hiding it from you because I’m recording this. But from here, I can also copy it. So that’s how we can find usernames and passwords on the Mac, iPad and iPhone. On the Mac. We can do this a couple of different ways. It depends on which Mac OS you’re using. You can do this through safaris preferences, or what you can do if you’re using Mac OS Big Sur later do it through the System Preferences. Once you get to your passwords, all you have to do is just search for the password you want and then you’re able to see the username and when you tap on the password, you can see that password. You can also copy the username and password on the iPad and iPhone we go into the Settings app and then we go to our passwords. From there you can also search for your username and password you’re looking for and then you can also view your username or password and copy them as well. So that’s how we find or search usernames and passwords on the Mac, iPad and iPhone
