Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at what favorite bookmarks are in Safari on the Mac. Let’s go to my Mac.
Let’s open up Safari here. When I open up Safari and I go to a new page, we have our Start Page. What we’re able to do is customize the Start Page. I click on this and I can customize what is shown.
Well, one of the things that we can select here or show is Favorites. These are our favorite bookmarks. So on I go to the top of the page here, you’re going to see it says Favorites. I have here a number of different websites as well as a folder. These are Favorite bookmarks. So I want to go to Apple. All I have to do is just click on it, and it goes to Apple. I want to open up this folder here of other websites, my news websites. I click on this, and now I can go to any one of these news sites. To go back, I click on the arrow again. I’m also able to access these Favorites from the tool bar here. I want to go to Apple, I click on Apple. I want to go to one of my news sites, I click on News here and now I can select from any one of those sites. In addition to that, if I go up to Bookmarks here, you’re going to see I have Favorites. Basically all this is it’s just a folder. It’s a folder of your favorite websites.
So how do we add sites to our Favorites? Well it’s pretty simple. When we go and manage our bookmarks, I’m going to click on my side by here so I can see my bookmarks. I click on Bookmarks here. You’re going to see I have this one folder. This is where all of my favorites are. So now all I need to do is really add a new bookmark and make sure that I add it to my Favorites. That’s all you have to do to add a website to your favorites. So let’s do that.
I’m going to add my site. So I go to Dan’s Tutorials. Now I go over to the share button in the upper right-hand corner. I click on it and then I go to Add Bookmark. When I add the bookmark, what I’m able to do is select where I want to save it. I’m going to go with Favorites here. So now I just click on Add, and if we look, we have Dan’s Tutorials here.
Let’s close this and open up a new page. You’re going to see, I have my site here. And when we look at the sidebar, we have my site. I want to rearrange these, I just click and drag. And now Dan’s Tutorials is in the front.
So that’s how Favorite bookmarks work on the Mac. Basically, it’s just a folder where you store all of your bookmarks. Anything that you place in this Favorites folder is going to show on your Start Page as well as in your toolbar.
So that’s how you favorite bookmarks in Safari on the Mac.
