In this video, we’re going to look at how we can print selected pages in the Preview app on the Mac. What we’re able to do is select the pages that we want to print when we’re looking at our thumbnails in the Preview app, and then only those pages will print. Let’s see how we do this. Let’s go to my Mac.
So I’m in the Preview app. And if we look here, you’re going to see that I have a shipping label. This is actually two different shipping labels, but it’s in four different pages. Let’s go and show my thumbnail. We do need to show our thumbnails in order to select which pages we want to print.
So I go up under View in the menu bar. And then we go over to Thumbnails. When I select this, over on the left side, we have all of our different pages in this document as thumbnails. As you can see, I have four different pages. Here’s the fourth page, but only two of them have the actual shipping label. Page one, as well as page three. So I only want to print those two pages, page one and page three.
So how do I do that? Well, the first thing we need to do is select which pages we want to print. So I go up to page one here I click on it. You can see we have a gray border around it. It is selected. Now, what I do is I go to the second page. I want to print; this is going to be page three. I hold down the Command key. And when I hold down the Command key, what’s going to happen when I click this, it is going to select that page, that thumbnail. Page three, but it’s also going to keep page one here selected. So now I have both of those pages selected. The key to this is holding down that Command key.
If I want to deselect any one of these, all I have to do is just click on it again. I’m still holding down the Command key. It deselects it. You can see I still have page one here selected. So I want to select both of these again. I’m still holding down the Command key. I click on it. Now I have page three selected, and I have page one selected.
Now that they’re both selected, what I do is I go and print my document. So I go up under File in the menu bar, and then we go over to Print. In the window that opens up, over on the right, you’re going to see we have Pages here. We have an option here. When we’re in the Preview app, we have Selected Pages In Sidebar..
When I select this, what’s going to happen is the Preview app will only print the pages that I have selected. Remember, I only had those two pages selected. If we look, you’re going to see it says one of four right now; it’s going to print all four pages. So now I just select this, and now it’s only going to print those two pages, the two pages that I have selected. So here’s my first shipping label. I click on the arrow here to view my second page. Here’s my second shipping label. Now, all I need to do is click on Print, and it’s only going to print those two pages.
So that’s how you can select which pages to print when you’re in a Preview document on the Mac. You to show the thumbnails and then just select the pages that you want print while holding down the Command key. Once you select your pages, you just go to Print and make sure that you select under Pages Selected Pages In Sidebar. Once you do that, the Preview app will only print the pages that you have selected from the sidebar.
So that’s how you can select which pages are printed in the Preview app on the Mac.
