Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, I will show you how you can send your location to someone that you’re in a conversation within the Messages app on the iPhone. Let’s say you’re having a conversation, you’re texting back and forth, you want someone to know where you are, what your location is. But you’re not familiar with any landmarks and you don’t know the address. Well you can send your location using the Messages app. Let’s see how we do this. Let’s go to my iPhone.
Let’s open up my Messages app. I’m going to go to my conversation with Beth. Let’s say I wanted to send my location to Beth. I don’t want to share my location. If I share my location, she’ll be able to look it up anytime with Find My Friends. I’m talking about sending my location. Basically you’re going to send it one time. How do we send our location?
Well, in order to do that, all you have to do is just go up to the top where your conversation details are. I’m having a conversation with Beth. So it says, BW, Bethers. I tap on this and then you’re going to see i. Under i is where we can send our location. So let’s tap on this. And now you’re going to see Send My Current Location. All I have to do is tap on this. Let’s go ahead and tap on it, and you’re going to see it created a map of my current location and is sent it to Beth if you want to see that location yourself, you can tap on this, and you can see the location yourself. Your recipient, in my case Beth, will also be able to do the same thing. They’ll be able to see your location on the map. And then if they want directions is just tap on Directions and they’ll be able to get directions to your location.
So that’s all we have to do to share our location with the Messages app on the iPhone. Basically when we’re in the middle of a conversation, if you want to share your location, you just go up to the name at the top, tap on that, tap on i to get more information. And then you’re going to see Share Your Location. Once you tap on Share Your Location, the recipient will get your location and they will be able to get directions to that location as well.
So that’s how you share your location using the Messages app on the iPhone.
