Pin Conversations for Easy Access
Learn how to pin conversations in the Messages app on the iPad.
With iPadOS 14, Apple introduced a feature in the Messages app to where we could pin specific conversations. This gives us easy access to specific conversations by placing them at the top of all of our conversations. No longer do we need to swipe through our list of conversations in the Messages app to find a specific conversations with someone or a group of people. We can easy find it at the top of all of our conversations. See how we pin conversations in the Messages app on the iPad in this lesson.

In this video, I’m going to show you how you can pin conversations in the Messages app on the iPad. This feature was introduced with iPadOS 14. Let’s see how we do this. Let’s go to my iPad. Now, the first thing we need to do is we need to open up our Messages app. When we’re looking at our Messages app, you’re going to see all of your different conversations on the left side.
Now, when you want to text someone from a previous conversation, the person you’ll have to do is you’ll have to tap on one of these conversations. Well, if you have a lot of conversations, what you may have to do is scroll up and down to find that specific conversation. Well, now what we can do with our conversations is we can pin them to the top.
So they’re always available. You may want to do this with your favorite conversations, your favorite people you have conversations with. My wife, Beth, here, we are constantly texting back and forth. So what I would like to do is I would like to pin this to the top. So I have easy access to it.
To do that, all we have to do is swipe over to the right on the conversation, and you’re going to see a pin here. Now I can tap on it or what I can do is keep swiping over to the right. And when I do, it pins it to the top. Now that conversation is always going to be at the top. Let’s go and pin this conversation here again.
I just swiped to the right. And now we can see that that conversation is there as well. So an off, I want to text Beth, I tap on Beth here, and I’m looking at that conversation to unpinned a conversation. Let’s say I no longer want to have this conversation here pinned. What we need to do is we need to press and hold on it or tap and hold.
And then you’re going to see on pin. I tap on this. It doesn’t delete the conversation, but what it does do is it on pins it and moves it back into the conversation list. So that’s how we pin our conversations in the Messages app on the iPad. Again, this was introduced with iPadOS 14 to pin a conversation.
We go to our messages app. We look at all of our different conversations. We swipe over to the right on the conversation we want to pin. And then that conversation will be pinned at the top for easy access. If you want to remove a conversation from being penned, you tap and hold on it or long-press on it, and then you’ll see a pin.
So that’s how we pin conversations in the Messages app on the iPad.
