Add Presenter Notes
Learn how to add and show presenter notes to individual slides in Keynote on the Mac.
In Keynote on the Mac, you can easily add presenter notes to individual slides within your presentation. These note can then be shown to you while giving a presentation and also printed out for your use or handouts. See how to add, view, and print presenter notes in this video for Keynote on the Mac.
Video TranscriptionIn this video, we’re going to look at how we can add presenter notes to our presentation in Keynote on the Mac. Let’s go to my Mac. So I’m in Keynote here I have my presentation built. The next thing that I would like to do is add presenter notes. With presenter notes, what we’re able to do is add presenter notes or individual notes to each slide to each individual slide. Then when we’re given the presentation, we can view those notes. And we can also print those out.

So how do we do that? Well, basically, what we need to do is show the presenter notes field. When I go up to my toolbar, and we go over to view here, you’re going to see an option for show presenter notes. When I select this, what I’m able to do is add my notes here below the slide, we can see that this note has festival parades. So this slide is about festival parades. All I have to do is just click in here and I can type in there. When we go over to this slide here, you’re going to see a has a different note in there, I could put bullet points in here things that I wanted to cover while I’m giving the presentation. To hide them again, maybe you need to work on the slide a little bit more and you no longer want to see those presenter notes, you can go back up under view here. And then you go over to hide presenter notes.
1:23
It doesn’t delete them, all it does is just hide them. We can also access this by going up to view here in the menu bar. And then you’re going to see hide presenter notes. The reason why it says Hide is because they are showing if I were to hide them here, we will be able to select to show them. So now that I have them shown what can I do with them? Well, if you’re giving the presentation, you want to show those on the presenters display. I have a separate video on how to customize the presenter display. But basically, if you go up under play here, you’re going to see customize presenter display. This is going to be what is shown as you’re given the presentation.
2:05
And when I select this, you’re going to see we have an option for presenter notes. So I just select this. And now when I go and give the presentation, I’m going to be able to see my presenter notes. We can also print these out. In order to print them out, we just go up under File in the menu bar. And then we go down to print, we need to make sure that we’re looking at all of the details of Keynote, you’re going to see I have here hide details. When you hide it, you do not have the option to show the presenter notes. So we have to go and click on Show Details.
2:41
I click on Show Details. I’m looking at my Keynote details. And one of the options here when we’re looking at our different slides here. When I want to print out a slide on each paper, I can go and include the presenter notes. If we want to print a grid, we cannot print the presenter notes. But we can print them as a handout. So when I click on this, you’re going to see include presenter notes. So depending on what option you choose here, you may or may not be able to print the presenter notes basically in slide and in handout you can print the presenter notes. So that’s how we work with our presenter notes and Keynote on the Mac. Basically, we just have to show the presenter notes field we do this under view on the toolbar. Once we show it we can add notes for each individual slide. If you want to view those presenter notes as you’re given the presentation, go up under play in the menu bar and customize your presenter display and make sure that you have presenter notes shown. And then you can also print those presenter notes. So that’s how we work with presenter notes in Keynote on the Mac.
