Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, I will show you how you can turn off the notification that you receive when you move a file out of iCloud. By default, when you’re using iCloud, iCloud Drive, and you move a file out of a folder in iCloud Drive, you’re going to get a notification saying, are you sure you want to move this? Well, there’s a way that we can turn off that notification. Let’s see how we do this. Let’s go to my Mac.
Let’s open up a new Finder window. I go down to my Finder here, and then we’re looking at a new Finder window. Let’s go to my iCloud Drive, and let’s go to my Documents here.
What I’m going to do is move this document here over to my desktop. When I do that, I’m moving up from iCloud over to my Mac. Now watch what happens when I do that; I just click and drag to move it over. And then we get a dialog box that says, are you sure you want to remove a shadow in the dark from iCloud Drive? It’s asking you to confirm this. I click on move, and now we can see it as on my desktop, and it is no longer in iCloud Drive. This happens every time you move a file from iCloud Drive over to your Mac. Let’s take this essay here. I click and drag. And now again, we have that dialog box.
Well, I no longer want to see the dialog box. I no longer want to see this notification. It’s kind of annoying to me. I move a lot of files. I don’t want to see this anymore. I’m going to click on Move here. Well, all we have to do to turn off that notification is go to our Finder Preferences. So I go up under Finder in the menu bar. And then, we go over our Preferences. From here, what we need to do is go to Advanced. We have an option here called Show warning before removing it from iCloud Drive. This is going to be selected. All we have to do is just de-select it. And now, when I move a file, let’s go ahead and move this document here—this image. When I moved this over to my computer, watch what happens. It just moves it over. Now it is treating my iCloud Drive just like any other folder, external drive folder. I can move files all day long without having that notification. Let’s go and take a look at this stories of the night sky. I click and drag and the places on my desktop, and I no longer have that notification.
So that’s how we can remove or turn off that notification that tells us that we’re moving a file from iCloud Drive over to our Mac. By default, this will notify you every time you move a file from iCloud Drive to your Mac. Well, if you want to turn that off, you go to your Finder Preferences, and then under Advanced, you’re going to see show warning before removing it from iCloud Drive. Just de-select that, and now when you move a file from iCloud Drive to your Mac, you will no longer receive that notification.
So that’s how you can turn off that notification telling you that you’re moving a file from iCloud Drive over to your Mac.
