Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, I’m going to give you an overview of the Apple Watch. We’re just going to go over some of the terms, such as what the digital crown is, what complications are, and some basic features of the Apple Watch. How we get to our notification center, how we switch watch faces. I’ll get into more detail about some of these features in subsequent videos. But first, let’s look at how we get around the Apple Watch. Let’s go to my Apple watch.
If we look at my Apple watch here, we have a digital crown over on the right side of it. This is a physical button. If I push it in, I’m going to be able to get to different features. In this case, what it will do, let’s go ahead and push it in; what it does is it brings me to a list of all of my apps. If I want to scroll through these apps, I can again use that digital crown and scroll up to view the different apps. Once I find the app I want, I tap on, watch, and open up that app. To go back to your watch face, you just push in the digital crown again; again, it is just a physical button, so I just push it in, and I’m back at my Apple Watch.
Below that, we have a side button. The side button will get us to our favorite apps or recently used apps. I’ll talk a little bit more about that in another video.
Now let’s take a look at the face itself. The face itself comprises of the time, as well as complications. Remember how on an old watch you had the date on it? Well, if we look here, you’re going to see we also have the date. This is a complication. Now the Apple Watch can be comprised of multiple complications. I have here a timer; this is another complication I have. The temperature, another complication. You tap on any one of these complications to get more information.
To switch between your different watch faces, all you have to do is just swipe back and forth on the Apple watch itself. So now I just swipe. And I’m looking at a different watch face. We can customize which watch faces we have when we swipe back and forth and which order they are in. I’ll talk about that in another video. Each watch face will have different complications, and it can have a different amount of complications. This particular watch face doesn’t have an analog face for the time, but it has a digital time. Over to the left, we have the complication for the date.
You’re going to see that I have a red dot up at the top. This is telling me that I have a notification. To view the notification, I just swipe down, and I can view that notification. I’ll talk a little bit more about notifications in another video as well. To go back to your watch face, you just swipe up. And I’m back at my watch face.
If we go down towards the bottom here, it brings me to a control center from here if I swipe up. I have various controls. My battery level is 81%, I am connected to wifi, and I have notifications, or I have the Apple Watch muted. I do have more controls here. I swipe up to view more, or what I can do is use the digital crown. When you are finished looking at all of your controls, all you have to do is just swipe down from the top again, and it brings us back to our watch face.
So that’s an overview of how we get around our Apple Watch. We have our digital crown on the right side. This is a physical button you push in on it, and we can get to our various apps depending on what app we’re in. It will also give us other features. To scroll, we can use the digital crown or swipe up and down on the Apple Watch. We also have a side button below the digital crown. This will give us access to different features as well. When we’re looking at a watch face, we just swipe to the left or right to switch the watch faces. And each watch face comprises of the time, as well as different complications. We can customize these complications when we customize the watch face. Our notifications are located at the top; you’ll see a red dot. Swipe down to view all of your notifications. To view your control panel, you go back to the watch face and then swipe up from the bottom. You’re going to see various controls. Swipe back down to get back to your watch face.
So that’s an overview of the Apple watch.
