Change the View of your Apps from Grid to List on the Apple Watch
Learn how to change the view of the Apple Watch apps from the default grid view, or icon view, to a list view.
Did you know you could change the view of the apps on an Apple Watch? By default, the Apple Watch shows installed apps as icons in a grid view. While this may look nice, it can be hard to see what app you are opening, especially if you do not know what the app’s icon looks like. You can change this to a list view where it lists all the installed apps by name in alphabetical order! You can switch to this view on both the Apple Watch and in the Watch app in the iPhone. See how to switch the view of the Apple Watch’s installed apps in this video for the Apple Watch.
Video TranscriptionIn this video, I’m going to show you how you can change the view of all of the apps on the Apple Watch, we can have it in icon view, which is the default view, or we can change it to a list view, my favorite view. Let’s see how we do this on the Apple Watch first, and then we’ll see how we can do it through the watch app on the iPhone.
So I’m looking at my Apple Watch here. And when I go and press in on the digital crown here, when I press in on it, what it does is it shows all of my apps in an icon view. And then if I wanted to open up any one of them, all I have to do is just tap on it, and I can open it up. Now I am not a fan of looking at all of my apps and icon view, what I would rather do is have them in a list view where they’re sorted alphabetically. How can we do this? Well, it’s pretty simple. All we have to do is tap and hold on the screen itself. So I’m going to tap and hold on here or long press. And then what you’re going to see is grid view, as well as ListView. So let’s go and change this to ListView. And now we can see that it is a list, I can swipe up and down on it. Or what I can do is take the digital crown here, and I roll it up and down.
To go through my apps, I tap on any one of them to open it up. To go back to our grid view, all I have to do is just long, press on it again. And then I can go over to GridView. Let’s see how we do this with our watch app. We can also do this with the watch app if you don’t want to do this on the Apple Watch itself. So I’m going to go back over to the iPhone. So I’m looking at my watch app here. And this one is actually pretty simple. All we need to do is go over to our app view, we do need to be looking at our my watch down in the lower left hand corner. And then when I go over to app view here, what I’m able to do is change it from ListView to grid view, I tap on this.
And now when I go back over to my Apple Watch, you’re going to see when I press in on the digital crown here it is in ListView. If I go back over to my watch app on the iPhone when I go back over to app view, and I switch it to grid view. Now I go back over to my Apple Watch, you’re going to see when I press in on the digital crown. It is an GridView. So that is how we can change our watch apps, our list of apps from icon view back to list view. We can do this from the Apple Watch, which is probably easiest. Or we can do it from the watch app on the iPhone. So that’s how you can change how you view your apps on the Apple Watch.
