Add Stop as a Reply for Messages on the Apple Watch
Are Political Texts Driving You Crazy? STOP them from your Apple Watch!
Today, I want to share a helpful trick on how you can reduce those annoying political texts during election season by using your Apple Watch. We’ll be adding the word “stop” as a suggestion for quick replies, which makes it easy to unsubscribe from unwanted messages. Let’s dive in!
Why Replying “Stop” is Effective
During election seasons, it’s common to receive numerous texts from political parties. Most of these messages offer an option to unsubscribe by replying with the word “stop”. Doing this can significantly reduce the number of these unwanted messages.
The Limitation of Reporting Junk
Initially, I used to report these messages as junk, hoping Apple would block them. However, that didn’t work as expected. Reporting junk is more of a suggestion and doesn’t actually stop the messages. Instead, sending “stop” has proven to be much more effective.
Steps to Adding “Stop” as a Quick Reply on Apple Watch
Step 1: Open the Apple Watch App on Your iPhone
- Swipe up on your iPhone to reveal your apps.
- Find and tap on the Apple Watch app.
Step 2: Navigate to Messages Settings
- Scroll down until you see the Messages option and tap on it.
Step 3: Customize Default Replies
- In the Messages settings, look for Default Replies and tap on it.
- Here, you will see a list of default replies. Scroll down and select Add Reply.
- Type in “stop” and save it.
Now, “stop” will be available as a quick reply on your Apple Watch.
Using the Quick Reply on Your Apple Watch
The next time you receive an unwanted text on your Apple Watch, simply tap on the message. Scroll through the quick replies until you see “stop” and tap on it. This sends the unsubscribe message without needing to pull out your iPhone.
Real-Life Success
I’ve personally used this trick, and it works! After replying “stop” to a few messages, I noticed a significant decrease in the number of political texts I received. In fact, I had to dig through my deleted messages to find one for this demonstration because I hadn’t received any in almost a month.
Conclusion
By adding “stop” as a quick reply suggestion on your Apple Watch, you can easily manage and reduce unwanted text messages. This method is much more effective than reporting messages as junk. Give it a try and enjoy a clutter-free message inbox!
I hope you found this guide helpful.
