Quickly Capture Thoughts with Quick Notes

The Notes app on your iPhone includes a handy feature called Quick Notes, designed to help you jot things down without opening the full app. This article walks through how Quick Notes work, where to find them, and how you can access them from different places on your iPhone.

Using the Share Sheet for Quick Notes

One of the easiest ways to create a Quick Note is through the Share Sheet. When you’re in an app like Safari and want to save a link or some text, you can tap the Share icon and select “Add to Quick Note.” This instantly saves the content to a new note without needing to leave the app you’re in. It’s a simple way to save ideas or links while you’re browsing or reading.

Where Quick Notes Are Stored

After you’ve created a Quick Note, you might wonder where it ends up. By default, Quick Notes are stored in a folder called Quick Notes inside the Notes app. You can find this folder by opening Notes and looking under your iCloud or On My iPhone account, depending on where you’ve chosen to store your notes. All your Quick Notes will be grouped there automatically, making it easy to find what you’ve saved.

Adding Quick Notes to Control Center

For even faster access, you can add Quick Notes to the Control Center. To do this, go into the Settings app, tap Control Center, and look for the “Quick Note” option under the list of tools you can add. Once added, just swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open the Control Center and tap the Quick Note icon. This opens a new note instantly—great for writing something down in the moment without interrupting your workflow.

Wrap Up

Quick Notes give you a convenient way to capture thoughts, save links, or jot down reminders from nearly anywhere on your iPhone. Whether you’re using the Share Sheet or Control Center, this feature helps you create notes faster and stay organized.
