Change a group Conversations Info
Learn how to change the name and image of a group conversation in the Messages app on the iPhone.
With iOS 14, Apple introduced the ability to customize the name and image that represents a group conversation in the Messages app in the iPhone. You can take a photo for the image, chooses from an emoji, or just have it represented by letters. See how to change the information for a group conversation in this video for Messages on the iPhone.
Video Transcript (video also has closed captions):
In this video, we’re going to look at how we can customize our group chat conversations in the Messages app on the iPhone. This was introduced with iOS 14. Let’s see how we customize our group conversations. Let’s go to my iPhone.
Let’s go and open up my Messages app. I have all of my conversations here, and this particular conversation here is a group conversation. There are more than two people in this conversation. If we look, you’re going to see I have a name for it. – it’s called friends, and then I also have an icon – a taco. We all like Mexican food. So I thought this was a good representation for this group conversation.
How did I name this? And how did I add that icon? Well, all you need to do to name a group conversation, as well as apply an image to it, is tap on it to open up the conversation, and then up at the top, you’re going to see we have the name of the conversation. All I need to do from here is just tap on this. And then we tap on the ‘i’. Basically, what we’re doing is we’re getting information for this group conversation. When I tap on this ‘i’, now this is nothing new; I have all of the people in that conversation.
At the top, we do have some new features. I can change the name and the photo of this conversation, this group conversation. And when I do, everyone in that conversation is going to receive that name and that image. To change it, you just tap on change name and photo, and then from here, I can choose any one of these images. I can also just choose a letter. I can choose my image here. I can take a photo with the camera. I can apply an emoji. To name it, we just go up to ‘Friends’ here; this is where the name is; I tap on the ‘x’, and now I can name it.
So that’s how you can now customize your group conversations. What we can do is we can apply a picture as well as apply a name. When we change the picture or the name, it’s going to change it for everyone in that conversation. To change the name or add a photo, we just open up that conversation, tap on the name up at the top, and then tap on the ‘i’. From there, what you’re able to do is change the image and change the name.
So that’s how we can now customize our group conversations in the Messages app on the iPhone.
