SUMMARY:Introduction to Tap Forms 5 Class
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious on how a database can help you? Have you used Filemaker Pro or Bento and you are looking for a new solution? Attend my class on Tap Forms 5! Tap Forms 5 is an easy to use database\, that packs some power features. I’ll be going over some of what you can do with Tap Forms 5 in this class. I’l be showing you on the mac\, but Tap Forms 5 is also available for the iPad and iPhone. \nTip: If you are not sure what you can do with a database\, I recommend you skip to the 2nd chapter where I build a database to manage books within 10 minutes. This database has dates\, you can mark if you’ve read the book\, give it a rating\, and add a genre through a pick list that comes from a linked or related form. \nSome of what covered include: \n\nWhat is a Database?\nComparing databases to Spreadsheets\nCreating Forms\nAdding Fields\nCreating Layouts\nViewing Records\nCreating Pick Lists\nSaving Searches\nRelating or linking forms (tables) together\nViewing your databases on an iPad\nSyncing databases\n\nSee how easy it is to use a database! \nNote: I am unaffiliated with the developer of this app. I am just a big fan of databases and love FileMaker Pro and their older Bento program. Filemaker Pro is costly and overkill for consumers\, while Bento was discontinued years ago. This is a nice solution that can bridge that gap\, so I just want to let people know about it. ???? \nThis event is reserved for All-Access Members.  \nAre you a member? SUMMARY:Ask Me Anything (AMA) Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Watch my AMA Webinar below. What is an AMA? Ask Me Anything. If you have a question about your Mac\, iPad\, iPhone\, Apple Watch\, or Apple TV – this is a great place to ask. Just RSVP below. When you RSVP\, there will be a place where you can ask your question. I’ll try my best to answer it during the AMA Webinar. \nSome of what we covered included: \n\nWhat is Keychain? How can I have my passwords save to it? Does it conflict with 1Password? As a tennis coach\, I would like to have music with some of my drills. What bluetooth speaker would be loud enough?\nHow do you share screen on FaceTime with others using Windows?\nCan you delete messages in bulk in the Messages app on the Mac?\nWhat do you do when a Time Machine backup fails? What is Disk Utility? Can it help?\nWhat’s the difference between the M1 Pro chip and the M1 Max chip?\nHow do I create and edit address labels from a database using Tap Forms on the Mac?\nHow do you open two safari pages side by side?\nHow can I open two Numbers documents side-by-side on the iPad?\nAre there any Virtual Programs on M1 Macs that can run Snow Leopard? Do you think new M1 iPad Pros will soon be able to run Mac apps\, like M1 Macs can now run iPadOS apps?\nCan you go over how to group the tabs in Safari?\nMy iPad says (again) I am out of storage. Problem is the podcasts that jump on. How best to tame these? I really like a few of them.\nIs it possible to send a link for a file on iCloud Drive to a recipient (Mac or Windows) without the recipient needing a password\, etc?\n\n \nVideo Transcript\n\nSo Chris\, how how’s the\, uh\, the backupwas\, is I was\, um\, I can’t\, I left it and I came back and said\, well\, there was another copy of a PDF document and it couldn’t back it up or said something. I said\, do you want to do it? So I clicked. Okay. I should have taken a picture of it and send it to you. Okay. So whatever. \nWe’ll stop the snow. That’s cool. \nNita. The cat wants to jump up on my lap here. Um\, you know what? Cat hair\, huh? Oh yeah. Got a nicer than snow. \nShe loves a belly rub. She was an outdoor cat two winters ago. So \nI had a lot of people signed up for this and I have quite a few questions. So that’ll be it. It’ll be interesting. I know. Yeah. It’s such a busy time. I’m surprised that\, uh\, so many people \nI had\, um\, 20\, 28 sign up\, so. Yeah to\, to\, to check was the magnet. What happened when I hit the\, uh\, when I go on the computer\, you hit the backed up the truth. It comes up. \nI also\, um\, I I’m trying to YouTube live again. So let me know if\, uh\, the screen gets a little jittery\, but what I did\, I told Chris this\, um\, I doubled my bandwidth and\, um\, also\, and they say\, I should have been doing this a long time ago\, but I finally a hard wired my computer. Um\, for one year when I do zoom calls\, it’s something that should be done anyway\, but I got works that now I got to cable. \nI got to run it in the basement\, but right now it’s just running across the living room floor to our hub. But I think it’s going to fix everything. So\, but let me know if it doesn’t. \nAlright\, I’m going to have cat fur all over this. \nWelcome everyone. Rick\, I think I have a question in my list from you\, so\, \nand I might have him from David Benton names. It looks familiar to David Smith\, or maybe it’s an email\, but we’ll get started here. Um\, just give a couple more minutes here. Um\, \nwhile we’re waiting\, uh\, well add a little bit of snow. \nWe do not have any snore out here in Michigan. It is cold. \nOh no\, no\, no. So you’re not going to another\, another little trick up my sleeve. You’re not going to be able to\, uh\, build any of these guys \nDavis\, this new software that I\, there is. Yes. Wow. Okay. I’m in Georgia. So \nthat’s where I would want to be too. If there was snow here. Well\, actually I shouldn’t say that the first month or two it’s all right. But then\, you know\, end of January\, February gets old. Yep. Can you hear me? I’m on. I see you. I can’t see anything else. No\, it’s supposed to see your screen now. It shouldn’t be able to see everyone through zoom. \nThat’s what I thought. None of the upper right-hand corner. Think your view. Yeah. If you’re on a Mac\, I should do. I am on that\, uh\, side by side gallery\, probably. Yeah\, that would\, that would know show my screen and then everyone else. I believe that’s how it works. I’m the one up there in the right-hand corner of my screen saysParker1@msu.edu. \nI’m also in Michigan. So MSU I’m in I’m just outside of my seat. Yeah. My wife went to MSU\, so. \nAnd my nephews from my sister\, 1\, 1\, 2\, a U of M and the other one graduated last year and the other one went to MSU. So that is a true house divided. So\, yeah. Yup. I have a master’s degree from central Michigan university. That’s where my sister went in the military now to a quickie masters. And then just before I got out. \nAll right\, we’ll get\, uh\, we’ll get started here. Um\, welcome everyone and happy holidays. Um\, yeah\, let’s\, I’m going to start over here. All right. I’m getting over a cold and\, you know\, Still I’m still dealing with my voice is a little bit off\, but anyway\, welcome everyone. Happy holidays. Um\, to my aim\, aim for those not familiar with me. \nI’m uh\, Dan Wassink and\, uh\, I’m basically everything Dan’s Tutorials and\, uh\, I am recording actually. I’m recording through my other software\, not through zoom\, so\, yep. It works a little bit better. So\, um\, Yeah\, I host these AMS every other week or close to thereby have. And\, uh\, then on the off weeks\, on the other weeks\, I do different classes. \nSo next\, um\, next week I’m going to be doing a class on what’s new with Mac Las Monterrey. I don’t have the next one scheduled\, but I think I’m going to do it on photos. Cause probably a lot of people are going to take photos for\, um\, you know\, the holiday season. So\, um\, maybe I’ll do something on\, on the photos app or how to organize your photos and things like that. \nBut today we\, this is an AMA and basically the way that it works is when people register on my site\, um\, they can ask any questions and um\, I try to get a\, get an answer for them as best as I can. So I have a list of questions. So we are going to get started here and um\, go to my first question. Let’s see if this works. \nAll right. \nThat’s not working. Try this one. All right. And we’ll stop the snow as well. This guy might come out and let’s see here. He’s not\, he might come out and yell at us\, but it’s all right. So\, um\, the first question is from Ross and\, uh\, he’s wondering what\, what his key chain\, you know\, how can you save passwords to it and does it conflict with one password? \nBasically? You know\, it’s a matter of how do you save passwords. This is the way that I’m putting it. How do you save passwords on the Mac and the iPad and the iPhone and the way that the Mac works is it does this through our\, I should say the way that apple works. It’s not the Mac only. Um\, it does this by keeping it in a key chain. \nThe reason why I keep focusing on the Mac is because the Mac actually has a key chain. Application. Um\, I don’t recommend people opening it up. I will show you where it’s at. Um\, so let me go to my Mac here and if I\, uh\, go to my utilities folder\, so I just go up under\, go here and you’re going to see utilities here. \nThere is a folder\, this utilities folders in the applications folder. There’s going to be an app here called. Key chain access. And w when you open this up\, what you’re able to do is see all of your different key chains. I’m sorry\, all of your different passwords\, and I’m not talking just passwords for different sites and things like that. \nUm\, it’s passwords for everything. Your Mac keeps passwords for networks. It keeps passwords for stuff that I have no idea what it’s for\, you know\, different\, different\, um\, it’s all kinds of information in there. So I’m all the way down to the login. And if you change the login\, you’re going to lose all of your passwords. \nSo you can\, you can easily\, um\, not necessarily break\, but you could easily lose access to your\, um\, to your passwords. If you mess around with a key chain and do something wrong. So I don’t really recommend anybody going in there\, but the point is\, this is where all of your passwords are saved when you save something in safari. \nOn the iPhone and the iPad\, it’s also saved it. This is a shared through a cloud. And when you save a password and here on the Mac\, what it will do is it’ll save it also to the iPad and the iPhone. As long as you use an iCloud and you have your key chain access shared. So then what you’re able to do is use that same password. \nYou don’t have to\, you know\, you can create a random password and your iPad and your iPhone would also know that password. Um\, but you can’t access the key chain\, the application key chain on the iPad and the iPhone. So that’s why I focused on the Mac more or less than anything else. So where can you\, where\, you know\, if you did want to look up a password\, where can you do that? \nIf I don’t recommend going through key chain access and you absolutely could\, but there are easier ways of doing it. Um\, what you’ll need to do\, what I would recommend people doing is going into\, if you’re using\, um\, basically. Um\, Mojave and forward. Whenever the introduce key chain\, what you’re able to do is go to safari. \nAnd in safaris preferences\, when you open up a new browser here\, \nI’ll bring this over. \nWhat you are able to do is go up to your preferences in safari. And then you’re going to see a new window that opens up passwords here and under passwords when you enter in your computer password. So I’m just going to enter into my computer password here. What I’m able to do is view all of my passwords. \nIt will even go as far as telling you if they’re compromised\, which means they looked it up through. Have I been poned or\, you know\, a couple of those websites that monitor that. Um\, if I were to click on any one of these\, I’m not going to click on any one of them because he’d be able to see the password. \nBut basically if I were to click on any one of these\, it\, um\, I’d be able to look up that password. Um\, anything with this little caution mark here\, it means that there might be something wrong with it and you can see this is\, I have a lot of passwords in here\, so it’s been saving them and I used to be a one password user. \nI just use\, um\, Apple’s version now. Um\, so you can look this up here. If you’re in Big Sur\, they took it a step further with key chain or saving passwords. It used to be only for safari. And then on the iPad and the iPhone\, they hooked it into it. Saves passwords for apps as well. So. You are always able to look up your passwords in the settings app on an iPad or an iPhone for\, um\, safari for an app\, you know\, anything like that\, but only on the iPad and the iPhone. \nWell now with Mac iOS Monterey\, they moved\, or in addition to finding this in safari\, you can also go to your System Preferences here\, and then you’re going to see passwords. And when you click on this\, it’s the same thing. It’s just another way of getting at it. But the point is that now also the reason why they moved it into System Preferences is because as developers embrace this a little bit more on the Mac\, when you enter a password into an app\, it should remember it in Monterey as well. \nSo it’s not necessarily a safari only thing. It now works across all apps on the Mac\, the iPad and the iPhone. Um\, how does it compare to. One password one password is great. If you’re on multiple platforms\, one password is great. If you want to share your password with someone else\, this is all based on iCloud. \nSo Beth is not going to be able\, I’m not going to be able to share my passwords with Beth because she has a different iCloud account. I would be able to do that with one password. So you could\, um\, you know\, share your passwords with multiple people. One password\, um\, keeps track of\, um\, other things\, notes\, things like that. \nAnd um\, if you’re on windows\, you can use one password. Although apple with Monterrey\, um\, introduced the ability to save your passwords is I believe your\, if you’re using Microsoft edge\, you can save your passwords in iCloud. So then now you’re actually able to use\, um\, this password. Management on windows to use an Apple’s version. \nSo it’s getting closer and closer to one password there. They’re getting really on par. Um\, I’m going to say that probably one password loss of load\, a little bit of business over the last few years\, just because Apple’s just re including mine\, Apple’s just done a\, a good enough job and it’s really getting better. \nNow. You can use it on windows. Um\, but it’s still not\, you know\, one password still is a little bit better. Has\, does have more features\, but do people\, everyone\, you know\, does everyone need all those features? I don’t need to share my passwords with bats. So there’s no reason for me to\, um\, to use one password\, um\, to set this up really simple. \nIf I go back over to safari and you’re going to see in my preferences here\, I have auto-fill. If you want it to save your information\, all you have to do is just make sure that this is checked usernames and passwords. You also want to make sure\, you know\, while you don’t want to\, I do credit cards\, things like that. \nSo\, um\, if it saves credit cards and you can go in and edit them\, it will automatically fill in the credit card. You still have to put the three digit code in there. Um\, other forms are addresses\, things like that. So then when you fill out a form in the address\, it will use this here as well\, all done through iCloud key chain. \nSo that’s\, um\, a basic rundown of what ki what one paths or immune\, sorry\, what\, uh\, the password management key chain is on the Mac or with apple\, you can use one password and Apple’s version at the same time. If you don’t want to use Apple’s version\, just uncheck those boxes and safari. Um\, but you can use them at the same time. \nUm\, it doesn’t\, there’s not any conflict or anything like that. So this was my question. Okay. Um\, so if I understand correctly by month safari\, I go to the website. I make a username and password is automatically going to say\, like in the background and I don’t even know it. Right. I ask you\, yes. It’ll ask you on a\, save this. \nIt’ll ask you\, do you want to save this pass? Do you want me to save this password? Okay. And then if I go to my iPad and I’m on iCloud and I signed in all of the\, say both devices\, when I go to that same website in my iPadOS\, a lot of times suggested will come up and does it come up in safari though? It only works in safaris. \nI’m going to go to my iPad here. \nSo I’m looking at my iPad. And if I go to my site\, I have my site obviously saved\, you know\, and\, and key chain here. I’ll show you\, this is what it will do. So I’m going to log in here. \nYou’re going to see down at the bottom here. I have used Dan Wassink. So now\, if you want to choose a different password over in the lower right-hand corner here\, you’re going to see this little key. When I click on that or tap on that\, I got to look at it here. Now what I’m able to do\, because I have multiple passwords saved for this website. \nNow\, what I’m able to do is choose which password I want\, which one I want to use. So as you can see on my site\, cause I have\, you know\, I’m signed in as multiple people just to test things out. Um\, so I can choose any one of these. So if you have two paths\, To usernames\, anything like that saved on the site\, or maybe like when I first went into this\, it went to Dan Wassink\, that’s not what I want. \nI want to sign in as\, you know\, somebody else or a different account that I have\, or maybe I have Beth’s account on here. I want to sign in under Beth. Well\, you’ll have to do is go to the little key here. Also\, if you are using one password\, um\, this is where you can choose one password as well. So that’s why they don’t conflict actually do work well together. \nYou know? So if you want to add a new password\, you can go and add a new password and it’ll generate a new one. And then it’ll ask you\, do you want to save this or updated or anything like that? Does that make sense? Um\, I did know in safari they had a whole list of all my password. Yeah. And that\, and that’s only on where I go for that. \nBut at the top menu bar\, you said there was a\, yeah. So are you talking about on the Mac or on the iPad? On the Mac. Okay. So on the Mac\, what you’ll do is go make sure that you’re in safari and then you’re going to go to preferences here and then under preferences\, you’re going to see this little window that opens up and there’s going to be one that’s called passwords. \nThat’s supposed to zoom in\, but it’s not zooming in. And then when I click on that\, I can look them all up. Okay. Thank you. And is there a way to\, uh\, you go to a site and you type in your username and password\, but it doesn’t ask you if you want to save it. Is there a way to force that. Yes. Um\, if I am in safari here and I let’s go back over into my preferences and we go to unlock this\, I believe I can add my own. \nWe’re going to find out here. Yeah. So you’re going to see a little plus down here\, close up. You’re going to see the sole plus. And what I’m able to do is add the website to use the name of them\, the password. \nOne other thing\, the\, uh\, the key chain\, uh\, doesn’t the passwords have come up with the back and with your iPhone. When you go to settings and passwords\, doesn’t pass more passwords than key chain Dutch. Why would that be? Which one has more passwords? The\, um\, uh\, If you go to like on your phone\, if you go to settings and bachelors or an iPad or the back and get that list. \nOkay. Yeah\, that is\, that is\, um\, because the iPhone and the iPad are saving passwords for different apps where safari generally doesn’t do that. Uh\, so the\, the key chain though\, that’s on the map\, then doesn’t include all of the passwords from the apps. I believe in Monterrey. It does\, but I don’t\, I don’t know. \nThat’s a good question. Um\, because a lot of the apps on the\, I F you know\, they just don’t have the same apps. I don’t know. That’s a good question. I’ll have to look it up. I have to just see what\, see what apps I have and see if they’re carried over. But\, you know\, check traditionally. No\, it doesn’t\, but you’d think that they would still be there. \nI know you could find them probably in the key chain access app that now\, if you’ve got a password that\, you know\, has that alert thing\, how do you go about changing it to make it so you would change? So what you would do is you would go to the website and change the password via the website or via the app\, you know\, um\, key chain or apple\, won’t do that for you\, but then when you change it what’s going to happen. \nIs the iPad\, the iPhone\, or the Mac are going to come back. It’s going to come back and say\, do you want to update your password? The update\, the password that I have in key chain. So let’s say I changed it from no. Microsoft to apple. So what’s going to happen is\, um\, the app\, apple device\, whatever I’m on is going to say\, do you want to update this password? \nIt’s not going to say what it is. It’s not going to tell you what it does\, but\, um\, you know\, and then what it’ll do is it’ll replace Microsoft\, the password\, Microsoft would the password\, Apple\, and then it’ll replace on all the devices. So it updates it. So you have to go\, it’s a two-step process. You have to go to the site to update it\, but then when you update it\, in most cases\, you know\, safari will come back and say\, do you wanna\, do you want to save this? \nNow? All of this\, I should say\, all of this just works with Safaria fuse and Chrome or something like that. They have their own password management. So\, um\, you know\, it’s going to be saved. If you’re using Chrome\, it’s going to be saved with Google. And then if you go into a Chrome browser on something else\, you’ll be able to access that. \nSo it says it’s only works with safari. All right. Let’s see\, you know\, so we have here \nnext one\, as a tennis coach\, I would like to have music with some of my drills. What Bluetooth speaker would be loud enough. Ooh\, that’s a\, that’s a\, you know\, um\, the\, the it’s tough. Uh\, I tend to stick with brand names. Um\, you know\, if I wanted to go\, you know\, if\, if money wasn’t an object\, I’m a huge Sonos fan. \nSo I’ll just start out the top. SANOS\, uh\, they have a great Bluetooth speaker\, great reviews on it. Um\, and\, uh\, you can\, uh\, just take it back home. You put it on a little dock and it automatically charges it. And it’s really\, my house is filled with Sonos. So\, um\, I don’t have that particular speaker\, but I’ve read enough reviews to our it’s a want\, you know\, kind of thing. \nUm\, It’s expensive. So where do you go from there? You know\, you can\, I tend to stick with\, uh\, with brand names. As I mentioned earlier\, Beth has a really nice JBL\, little\, just little speaker. I’ve heard the\, the\, um\, I don’t know if they make it anymore. The problem is is they\, they\, these little boxes come and go. \nUm\, they used to be something that was really popular called the pill. It looked like a pill. A few of my friends had that. That sounded great\, but basically stick with a name brand\, um\, and stick with something that maybe makes make speakers. Um\, you’re going to pay a little bit more of a premium for it\, but it’s going to have a nice sound to it. \nAnd it’s going to carry a little bit louder\, you know\, you could go with\, um\, bows\, you know\, basically any\, any name\, brand audio. So. That’s what I would recommend and the way that I would do it. Um\, some people have heard me say this before\, uh\, buy it through Amazon. Oh\, somebody got there. All right. Buy through Amazon. \nAnd\, uh\, you know\, if you’re a prime member\, make sure you buy it\, buy it via prime\, you know\, and if it doesn’t work out\, you can always return it. I\, I\, I\, you know\, try before you buy\, you know\, uh\, uh\, uh\, uh\, I do that quite a bit. I have to\, I have a new green screen that I have to return to\, to Amazon\, you know\, because\, um\, I got a little bit of a wider one that I liked better. \nI try to\, before I bought it\, you know\, kept all the boxes and everything else. So\, uh\, you know\, you can\, uh\, you know\, just try a couple of things and see which one\, but stick with name brand for the most part. Um\, \nyeah\, either that that’s a bigger one is probably. 18 or 20 inches\, 24 inches tall. So it’s\, I mean\, you put it on a luggage cart. It’s not heavy\, but put it on a luggage cart thing out. And then it’s Bluetooth battery operated. Nice. Yeah. Boats make some really\, really nice stuff. I’m\, I’ve been a fan of boats for\, for years\, you know\, some\, you know\, some people are like\, eh\, but I think they really do make some nice stuff. \nUm\, and I\, again\, I also like JBL\, which has made by Harman Kardon\, um\, you know\, prior to my computer days\, I was an audio\, I installed car stereos and things like that. So\, uh\, my\, my second love is as audio\, which is why I have two subwoofers in a house that’s 1100 square feet. So\, um\, all right. How do you share screen on FaceTime with others using windows? \nSo\, Barry\, are you yeah\, Barry? Yep. So. Are you whining? Oh\, you know\, this one must be another battery. I did ask this particular question. Oh\, okay. All right. Ask a question about Jerry\, but not particularly on Facebook. Okay. All right. Well\, hopefully I got it in my list. If not\, when we get to the\, and remind me\, um\, I wasn’t exactly sure what\, uh\, what Barry meant. \nUm\, I’m guessing I’m I’m I don’t think what he wants to\, um\, I’ll go with this. As far as I read you are not able to share a windows face. So a person that is on windows is not going to be able to share their screen with you. So\, but you can share your screen with them\, but they’re not going to be able to share their screen with you. \nSo\, and the way that\, you know\, share your screen. Let’s see if I have it pulled up here. I did. \nNo\, uh\, oh\, there it goes. Yep. I’m gonna go back to my Mac here. Um\, you know\, you can share screens\, which is new\, so you could watch movies together. That’s uh\, you know\, I don’t know if Barry meant that as well. This just came out a couple of weeks ago and maybe even a week ago\, um\, this was promised when iOS 15 came out and it’s one of the features that were delayed\, you know\, they had to\, they had to work out a few more things with it\, but basically what you’re able to do is\, um\, if I was watching something on Disney plus and I wanted to share\, you know\, watch it with someone else\, we’d be able to watch it together. \nThey do have to be anyone that is watching. It does have to also have that same subscription. In other words\, I’m watching Hawkeye on Disney plus. They’re also going to have to have an account with Disney plus they’re not\, I’m not going to be able to share a movie\, um\, through HBO or anything like that with people that do not have a subscription. \nSo it’s not\, not a full-on share. If you want to share your screen\, you know\, you can actually share your screen as well and that\, um\, screen sharing. So this is why I wasn’t sure where he was going. Is he talking about sharing\, you know\, sharing a screen like a movie\, which is what apple is calling it\, or do you want to share your\, your\, your screen itself? \nYou can also share your screen yourself and that’s start a FaceTime call. And\, um\, there’s going to be a share content button. And all you have to do is just\, uh\, tap on that. And then you\, uh\, you know\, you want to share your screen and anybody that is on the call is going to be able to see your screen. So\, um\, I kind of knew this was coming a while back and\, uh\, I see that. \nBlack is with us. And\, you know\, this was one of those things where I\, I don’t necessarily do one-on-ones\, but I’m kind of watching this\, this kind of opens that door. Cause Kevin doesn’t have a Mac. It’s very easy to\, to\, for me to\, as Chris knows\, it’s very easy for me to view someone’s screen\, um\, to see what is going on\, um\, to see what they’re doing\, uh\, when it’s a Mac\, you can’t do that on an iPad or an iPhone while now with FaceTime where you can. \nSo this is something that I’m experimenting with and\, uh\, you know\, maybe I’ll be able to help out people\, you know\, that are\, have iPads and iPhones a little bit better using this technology that just came out. So I’m not real familiar with it myself. So\, you know\, it’s just something I got to tinker with\, but yeah. \nAll right. Let’s see. Well\, while we’re on sharing screens\, this is my question\, I guess\, what do you use to get on someone else’s\, uh\, or their iMac or whatever\, what’s your. I know you can do it through messages also. Is there a system wide preference change that you have to do in order to get that message to pop up on their screen? \nNo\, not necessarily. Um\, so if you do it through messages and this is typically how I do it\, um\, I’ll just\, uh\, so are you familiar with how you do it through messages? I think it’s through there is a share. Yep. So\, so basically\, basically while the person has to have an apple account\, so if I’m in\, um\, if I’m in my messages here\, this is what I was hoping they would do with the\, um\, with the iPad\, but they didn’t\, they do it through FaceTime\, but let’s say I want\, you know\, Beth is\, is on her computer. \nShe’s not\, she’s out grocery shopping\, but let’s\, you know\, if\, if she was on her computer\, what I would do is I would go up to the I here and then you’re going to see. And basically our computer must be on what I can do is I can ask to share screen. So this is what I do\, Chris. When I\, when I talk with you and if someone\, if I wanted to share my screen\, I could do that. \nNow the person does have to accept it. There are other tools that you can use where you don’t have to do that. So you could just get on their computer. My recommend if you don’t do it through messages\, my favorite way. Right. If you don’t use. Yep. Um\, so what they’re\, what they’re called is VNC type apps. \nIt’s an open source. It’s the way that they work. Um\, I think it’s screens a\, um\, screens\, Apple. Screen sharing. And this is what I use screens\, uh\, share here. \nLet me look it up on my let’s see here. Do I have it on here? \nScreens connect. Okay. So basically what this\, perhaps screens connect \nwith this air we go. So what the screens connect is is it’s a two-step process. And basically what. I have this installed. I don’t know if I use it too much anymore. I had it installed on my two sisters computer so I could access to them\, you know\, without any\, any\, but without any issue\, the messages app works pretty good. \nSo I don’t really use this too much anymore\, but I do use it on my computer. And here’s why\, if I’m at my in-laws\, I take my iPad and I want to get something off of my computer or control my computer. My computer is here in Holland. My in-laws are over in Flint. What I’m able to do is access the screens app. \nYou get it through the app store on my iPad\, and then I’m able to connect to my computer and I’m able to just control my computer through my iPad. It’s almost like you’re turning your iPad into a computer two-step process. You have to install screens\, connect on the computer that you want to control. So I have screens connect on this computer. \nThen what you do is you install so screens. If I had another Mac\, I would install screens for Mac. And if I’m on the iPad\, I install screens for iOS and I opened that up through a VPN or through a tunnel. It’s all secure. What that will do then is allow you to control your Mac and allows you to control. I believe it also works with windows as well. \nSo you’re able to control your computers\, um\, through\, through an app\, through a third party app. And so that you’re trying to control somebody else’s computer\, not yours that they have to have. They have\, they have to have screens connect. Yup. Somehow they have to have that kind of a\, they have to have a\, um\, yeah\, they have to have some type of there’s other solutions out there\, but you’re not going to be able to do it without them. \nThey have to\, or you have to install it on their computer. It just runs in the background\, but it does have to be installed. \nAlright. Uh\, let’s see. Next we have\, can you delete messages in bulk on the Mac? Short answer is no. And with\, um\, on the\, on the iPad and the iPhone\, what you’re able to do is delete conversations\, multiple conversations on the\, um\, on the Mac. It’s not something you’re able to do. I’m assuming that they will bring that down the road. \nYou know\, apple is kind of in a middle there. It’s getting better. They’re kind of in the middle of\, um\, what let’s see\, how do they\, how do I do this? They\, the messages app used to be a Mac app now for\, for lack of\, um\, for generality\, it’s really an iPad app. So they poured it over the iPad app and brought it onto the Mac by doing. \nIt’s not a full featured iPad app and it lost some of the features of the old Mac app. This is something common that apple does\, the music app\, same kind of thing. iTunes had more power than what the music has. In fact\, um\, apple is really addressing the issues that they have with the music app and the podcasts and things like that. \nUm\, because\, uh\, you know\, they’re basically just cat\, I think they’re called catalyst apps\, iPad apps\, and then they port them over to the Mac and add a few features here and there\, but they generally aren’t are not on par. Um\, and the messages app is one of those. The reason why they do that is with the messages app. \nIt’s a\, it’s a mixed bag\, but\, um\, you know\, and\, and the messages app here I am now able to\, you know\, include a few different apps down. You couldn’t do that in the old messages app. That’s because this is now an iPad app\, you know\, brought over to\, to the max. So it’s including some of the features of the Mac app\, or I’m sorry\, of the app iPad app. \nSo I’m going to assume down the road\, you’re going to be able to\, but I could not find I did a search. I could not find any way that you can delete\, you know\, not like you can on the iPad and the iPhone. So short answer is no\, not right now. So yeah. Uh\, I’m looking at my iPhone and I\, I have to delete message by swiping to delete. \nYou can do multiple loved ones to delete at the same time. Just click on. Um\, let’s see here. Let me go to my iPhone. \nOkay. So. I did it name and photo select messages. And then what you’re able to do is tap and down at the very bottom. Right. You’re going to see the little delete\, uh\, because\, so yeah\, edit so that\, and you can do the same thing on the iPad\, but unfortunately you can not do it on the\, um\, on the Mac yet. I’m I can only assume they’re going to do it\, but\, and you block the message that you get on. \nI get Moser messages\, uh\, political messages. I want it. I want to block and I block you can\, um\, let’s see here if it pins them. It’s I gotta think of how this slide. You can block them\, uh\, see your mom messages. \nLet alerts pin\, maybe it’s up here. Okay. Yeah. This is how we do it. I just had to\, I had to refresh my memory. So you open up the conversation. So let’s say I wanted to\, um\, block or go down here to\, uh\, you know\, I want to block my friend or well block Troy here. That’s actually my first name. So if I wanted to block him\, what I do is I tap on his name up here at the top\, and then you’re going to see in fo yeah\, tap on info. \nAnd then you’re going to see block this. So let’s go a little bit of a\, not too easy\, but you know\, like I had to fumble through it\, obviously it’s not something that you do on a daily basis. So\, um\, tap on their name\, tap on info to get more info and down at the bottom\, you have blocked this color. And I’m\, I\, I need to remember that because I I’m getting the same kind of thing. \nIt’s\, it’s crazy. You know\, the type of stuff that I get. Yeah. Same thing with emails. It’s funny. I’m getting\, I’m getting emails from Beth and it’s only because Beth used to have my old phone number\, something\, we swapped them out years ago and now all this. So they must some political\, uh\, boat that’s on both sides or they they’re sharing all that stuff. \nSo yeah. But don’t\, they have to be in your contacts in order for you to get that information. So I don’t know if it adds it to the contacts\, um\, using the phone number. Yeah. Yeah. I mean\, it adds it to a block list. So\, uh\, I guess what I’m going to\, I’m going to try a Frank and you try it and we can come back and see if\, uh\, compare notes. \nRight? Alright. Um\, what do we have next? Okay. Um\, ah\, this is from Chris cause we’ve been working with Chris\, so maybe what we should do. So Chris has been having some time machine problems and\, uh\, she bought a couple of new hard drives and still having problems\, um\, that the discs are failing\, but they’re brand new hard drives. \nAnd\, uh\, you know\, it’s just like\, so what\, what what’s going on? And it’s a good question\, a question that I even went and asked. So\, you know\, as everyone knows\, I work at a local school here and\, uh\, you know\, the majority of the reason why I work there is it’s the two tech people are people that I worked with at apple. \nBoth of them were geniuses. So they have\, they have three geniuses at the school if you want to call it that. Um\, but\, uh\, what\, uh\, the nice thing is\, is\, um\, this is\, they’re a sounding board for me for like\, with Chris and\, you know\, it’s the thing I asked\, um\, Charlie\, uh\, you know\, like this is what’s going on. \nAnd we sat there and like\, okay\, did you do this? Yep. Did you do this? Yep. Okay. Well\, try it\, try this\, you know\, kind of thing. So he gives me ideas\, you know\, that I’m not that I forget about\, or I’m not aware of\, or you just kind of don’t think about it and you know\, kind of thing. Um\, so that’s what I did. \nSo\, um\, what\, uh\, he gave me a few ideas and we tried it and one of them didn’t work. And\, uh\, so now we’re trying something else and I still have another idea that I want to try with Chris. So\, you know\, we’re just kind of trudging along here trying different things. So basically maybe what I can do is in the next day\, may we can come back to this cause I don’t have an answer yet cause we haven’t solved it yet. \nNo. And he’s being very helpful and very available. So all like his\, I have tons of kudos. Well\, I’m a big fan of backups. So when one\, one fails\, it’s like\, ah\, you know\, so\, well the tendency was\, I had to last from last summer and then they started going Milwaukee. So\, you know\, between two hope. Yeah. \nEssentially what we’re\, what we’re trying to figure out is where\, where the fail is. She doesn’t have any problem with a computer. Um\, we narrowed\, it’s not the hub and\, uh\, you know\, it\, it’s four different hard drives that. Seemed to be causing issues\, which I can imagine four different\, hard drives causing a problem. \nAnd I’m starting to lean towards\, it’s just something going on with a computer. It is an older computer and maybe it’s just something with the time machine. We did run some utilities on it and that didn’t seem to resolve it either. So we’re\, we’re trudging through it. Um\, I can only say\, uh\, what do you do? \nYou trudge through it and try to\, you know\, narrow with any troubleshooting things. And this is what they taught at apple\, but I was repairing stuff before I worked at apple\, but\, um\, you know\, they\, I forget what they call it a 50 something split. So basically you\, you knock half of the thing out and with any troubleshooting\, you know\, not calf of\, uh\, what it could be. \nOkay. Well\, this half works. That means that we’ve narrowed it down to this. Now you’d knock that in half and you can finally\, it’s a split. Some\, they call us some\, some little things. So essentially what we’re doing with Chris’s computer\, does that me have an echo. There we go. All right. Um\, so essentially what\, uh\, what we did is we narrowed it down to\, it’s not the hub\, we’ve tried different ports\, so it’s not the port. \nAnd that’s all you do with any troubleshooting kind of thing\, as you just slowly\, you know\, you want\, I love it. It sounds odd\, but I love it when\, um\, something fails multiple times as I try. And I shouldn’t say it this way\, but when something that means I can knit\, I can take that element out of it. So if something were to fail again\, that means it’s not random. \nIt’s predictable. Love that. So that means that you can keep trying things until you find out what’s wrong with it\, which is what we’re trying to do with Chris. So\, um\, all right\, so we’ll have to come back to that and give an update. What’s the difference between the max chip? Uh\, just\, uh\, Bigger and better\, faster. \nAnd I would say that\, um\, the M one pro chip is going to be fine for the vast majority of people. If people are video editing. Um\, and I do video editing\, I’m starting to use final cut pro the way that I’m doing these videos now and all that\, but still\, I don’t believe\, you know\, and Mike cut a three minute video\, um\, exporting it out down to two minutes. \nUm\, you know\, is it worth the money for that? But now if you’re doing\, you know\, a\, a feature length movie that’s completely different\, or if you’re doing\, you know\, a half hour kind of documentary or\, you know\, depending on what you yeah. You know\, are working with photos that are\, that are ginormous. Yes. Then\, um\, Ooh\, I should have enabled I’ve traveled and transcription. \nThis one though is the bigger one\, which\, you know\, if you’re just an ordinary Joe like me\, I\, I it’s the pro. Okay. The pro absolutely. The pro \nwait a minute. Which one is it? Yup. Paul. All right. So let’s see what we got next. Oops\, not that one did that one already. And I don’t know if I’m the only one\, but\, uh\, you\, your video is lagging behind your speech. Um\, you know\, I’ve got the major window in the middle and then I’ve got the gallery\, the gallery\, uh\, your lips are sinking\, but on your other one\, you’re a jerk. \nI was going to thank\, you know\, and there’s\, there is a\, when I edit these videos\, sorry\, we’re going to have to deal with it on this. The video itself will be better\, um\, with\, uh\, There’s a setting on here. And I meant to look at that before. So what I can do is you can\, you can time your\, your audio and all that\, and I’ve forgot to do that. \nUm\, cause I always fix it in post edit. Cause I’ve noticed that as well. So we’re going to have to deal with it during this broadcast. It should be fixed in the video and I’m going to look at that. So it doesn’t happen again. It’s just a little slider that I can go and adjust to say\, you know\, move the audio up two frames or something like that. \nAnd then it’ll be fine. So we’re not having any blurry issues though\, right? Everything is clear. Nope. Right? So progress. That’s all I’m looking for progress. Yeah. But sometimes when it’s it’s some of us still though\, like on the top of your screen\, when you went to your map and you showed in some of the stuff is a tad. \nOkay. Okay. I’ll keep tweaking. So\, um\, all right. Is this one I didn’t quite understand is Jeff Jeff here\, because I’m not sure exactly what he meant. Format of calendar page with opening the calendar app. One iPad has just dots. The other has scripted details of entries. So I\, um\, I’m just going to\, uh\, Jeff\, if you watch this later\, can you give me a little more detail and I’ll be glad to try to help\, but\, um\, I’m not sure exactly what you mean\, so yeah. \nCan I ask you a question about the calendar though? Sure. Go for it. Okay. So\, um\, I get repeats a lot on calendar events as years go by like new year’s day mark. And then the next year there’s two sort of notices says new year’s day\, twice on January 1st. And then the third year’s three. Um\, yep. I do know what you mean. \nI think\, did you ask that question or somebody else did? I am asked it ages ago. It just bugs the hell out of me. Um\, I’m going to show you on my iPad here. Uh\, but basically typically what’s happening is\, is you’re subscribing to multiple calendars\, even though they’re the same thing. So you could have multiple holiday calendars or multiple\, you know\, whatever\, you know. \nUm\, so you just have to unsubscribe from them and on the app\, is this on the iPad or on the Mac? Oh\, okay. I’ll go to my Mac. Sorry. All right. So I’m at\, um\, let me move these out of their way here. And we’re going to go to my calendar app here. \nAlright. So what. This\, you’re going to see\, I have these calendars over here in the upper left-hand corner. So what you want to do is make sure that there aren’t any repeats in here and also what you can do. Let’s just say I had\, um\, Christmas Eve here twice\, which is what you’re seeing\, right? So when you select one of these\, so I selected this Christmas Eve\, you’re going to see that it also selected the calendar over here on the left\, if I were to select something else. \nSo here’s a meeting that I select it should. Yeah. Now it’s selecting this home up here. So while you’re going to be able to do is see which calendar each one is for. Um\, I’d be curious to know. For different calendars over here on the\, on the left side\, that’d be my guest. So basically what you need to do is you just need to go in here and I believe if you control\, click on it\, you can unsubscribe here and then it’ll remove it. \nOkay. \nAll right. Um\, let’s go next. \nHow do I create an edit address? Labels from a database using Tap Forms five on the Mac. All right. So Tap Forms five\, for those of you who do not know as a database and\, you know\, it’s kind of like a\, for the old schoolers\, like myself\, bento\, you know\, it’s a bento replacement\, um\, not nearly as powerful as FileMaker pro\, but it’s powerful enough and it does\, uh\, it does a pretty good job and you can print labels with it. \nUm\, So I’m going to open up\, I’m going to go to my Mac here and just give a quick rundown of how it works. So I’m going to open up my Tap Forms five. And what I’m looking at here is a\, um\, you know\, a client database. So it just would have names and\, and things like that. So if I wanted to print labels for\, you know\, the address and things like that\, what you need to do is you need to create a new layout in order to do that. \nWhat you do is you go up to layout here and new layout\, and over here\, you’re going to see design for you want to design it for a label. So now when I click on this\, what I’m able to do is select what type of label. And you know\, let’s go with an Avery. I can edit the label\, uh\, So I select it and there’s my label and now what I need to do. \nSo it has my label in there. Now what I need to do is I need to go and add the fields. So I have my layout. It’s set up for the\, um\, can I interrupt just a minute? Yeah\, it’s supposed to be easy to pick so many really let’s try 51 60. Can you find that one? I had M sorry\, when I was\, I don’t know if you noticed I had Avery typed in here\, so let’s go 51 60. \nThere it is. I just had\, I just had Avery typed in there\, so it only showed two. So yeah. Make sure that this is clear. I have to type the Avery plus. Uh\, no\, I just typed in 51 60\, because I think 51 60 is more of a standard like Avery\, isn’t the only one that makes 51 60. So\, uh\, typing\, typing the number and then you’re going to be able to get\, so you select which one it is. \nAnd now that I have that layout\, um\, I could edit the layout. If I\, you know\, different margins with every label\, you have different\, you know\, the different sizes and things like that. But if you know\, it’s a 51 60\, um\, and then\, uh\, you know\, you can just go and drag the fields out and place them on there. \nUm\, so let me delete that. So down here we have our fields and essentially let me make this a little bit bigger. So I have all my fields here. All I have to do is just drag this. Your image is blocking what I think you’re drawing from. Oh\, I’m sorry. Yeah\, it is. I see that now. Okay. Let me move that over. \nThere you go. So there’s all the fields \nand just drag them out. Okay. And that should work. What about first name and last name? Well\, if I have the fields\, um\, oh\, there they are. First name and last name. I can pull them out and you make them into a one\, one. Um\, what you’d have to do is create a calculated field. So I’ll call it a full name and then add it. \nThat’s what this is. This is a calculated field. So essentially what this is doing is taking the first name at any space and then adding\, you know\, taking the last name. So you’d have to create a calculator. Okay. It’s coming back to me. I did this once about three or four years ago. I haven’t touched it since. \nYep. That’s how\, that’s how you do it. Hm. There’s another little subtle thing that needs to be checked check\, but I’m not sure where it is. Uh\, so that you’d get one for each record or multiple records\, multiple labels from that from each record\, you don’t have\, you have more than you just have that one label that’s right down multiple records per page\, \nmultiple records per page. That’s what it is. Yep. And you can also do the label direction\, so it has all of the label type stuff\, so. Excellent. Okay. Thank you. Yeah. \nWhat is next? Um\, how do you open to safari pages? Side by side? So let’s go back over to\, I’m assuming this is on the Mac. Is this Dale? Yes. Okay. So if I go to my Mac here and are you which operating system are you using so far? Um\, no Monterrey. Okay. So with Monterrey\, if I open up a safari window here and let’s just\, um\, take\, so now I have two windows here open\, right. \nAnd what I would like to do is put these side by side. What you can do is if you click on the green.here\, When you’re in Monterey\, you’re going to see where is it\, what I wanted to do. Um\, it should usually you can say side by side\, where is it? \nOkay. I’m holding down the option key. And when I hold down the option key\, I do have this move window to the left side of the screen. Let’s see what that\, and are you wanting to open these up full screen? Side-by-side or just side-by-side as separate windows? The window. Okay. So that’s what this is doing. \nSo what this did an open up and full screen. So basically it moved it over so you can see it’s over halfway. And then I take this one and I do the same thing. I hold down. Option key. And I say\, move over to the right side of the screen. And now they’re side by side\, but they’re separate windows\, so it’s not full screen. \nSo the option key is the secret. Okay. So the other way\, if you have two screens open\, you show us one time\, uh\, you know\, doing S3 and then calling them. Yeah. So let’s see if this\, um\, if I go F three\, which is mission control\, what I’m able to do up here on the desktop\, what I’m able to do is move one window up here. \nWhoops. I have to go into full screen. Sorry. I have to put one window in full screen. So I’d put this one into full screen. Now what I do is I hit F three to go into mission control and I can see all my spaces up here and. Let’s try that again. You’re screen sharing is pause. I don’t want it to be paused so resume. \nIt’s not letting me do it in full\, full screen. Um\, okay. There it is\, but that’s not full screen\, so it’s not letting me show you the screen sharing is\, um\, all because it wants me to go to a new window. So I can’t\, uh\, all I can do is tell you\, Dale\, I’m not able to\, um\, show you specifically\, but basically what you would do \nis where am I? All right. You would go into full-screen mode\, open an app up in full screen mode. And then when you see all of those\, um\, \nI don’t know if you can see it\, but up at the top. We have our spaces there drag the other window\, the other safari window on top of the other space. And it’ll split them. Side-by-side unfortunately\, I’m not able to show you\, but just by the pull it sideways and that I put the top in the MP3. Yeah. Yeah. \nOkay. Thank you. Okay. Um\, I think the next one is related to that and this one is with iPad. Um\, Neil asked this\, uh\, or wild back and it’s\, and it’s kind of tricky. Um\, it’s much better with iPadOS 15. So I’m going to show you on the iPad here with iPadOS 15. Basically what he wants to do is he wants to open up two numbers documents side by side. \nSo when I’m looking at my iPad\, All right. Again\, there let’s go and open up a numbers document. So I’m just going to go down to my numbers here. I’m in a numbers document. Now what I need to do is I need to open up another document. So a way that you do that is through what Apple calls the shelf. This is with iPadOS 15. \nWhen I tap on the three dots here at the very top\, what I have here is a new window option. So this allows me to basically have two different windows here. So now I’m going to open up my tables and charts. So I have two separate windows. I have my tables and charts. \nAnd I have my simple budget. Now\, what I want to do is I want to open these up side by side. Now there are a few different ways you can do this\, but I\, I think this is probably the way that\, that this is how I’ve been doing it. Um\, so I have them open side by side. Now what I do is I view all of my open apps and I just drag one much like what we just talked about in the last slide. \nI drag one on top of the other\, and now they’re side by side. So you first have to open up both documents. And then what you’re able to do when you view all of your open apps is drag one on top of the other\, and it opens up sidebar. Now there are other ways I could go up to the three dots here and open up another app. \nBut I think what Neil is talking about is he just wanted to have two numbers documents. So the first thing\, the tricky part is\, is getting to numbers\, documents open. You know\, if I were to close one of these\, let’s go ahead and close one of these. And so I have the simple budget open. Now\, what I want to do is open up another document. \nIf I go up to the three dots here and I go to the side by side\, it doesn’t allow me to\, I guess\, we’re going to try\, I’m going to tap on numbers here. Oh\, okay. I could have done it that way. And now I just go to table and chart. So I’m going to start over being that. I just kind of fumbled my way through that. \nSo this is another way of doing it. And again\, this is all iPadOS 15. This is why I’m a big fan of iPadOS 15. Um\, so I have my one document open. I want to open up another one from numbers. All I have to do is just go up to the three dots here. This is our multi gesturing tap on it. And then I go over to the middle one here. \nThis is where you can open up side by side and I’m going to move over to the left. So I moved this document over to the left. Now the iPad is asking which document do you want to open? So I go back down over two numbers\, cause I want to open up another’s a numbers document and I can choose a different document. \nI can open up\, you know\, I can create a new document. Let’s say I wanted to open up a brand new one or this blank one here. There’s that blank one. I want this one to be open to my table. Yeah\, that was to my table and chart. Now I\, it on an iPad\, not a desktop\, but uh\, first similar\, uh\, if you’re on the left\, especially on the left\, mine needs to be wider. \nIt’s got more stuff in it. What am I going to have more stuff to give you a narrower? \nYeah\, this is on an iPad. This is my iPad. Yup. And you open the\, uh\, the $3 \nso yeah. So the three dots is what\, what we’re looking at here\, these three\, three dots here. So this will open it up in full screen. So the one on the left\, this will open it up in side by side\, which is what we used this we’ll open it up in what they call a slide. \nYeah\, I use the middle one for both of those. Cause I didn’t want to have it as a slide over because with a slide over\, you’re not able to do this slide over is basically one size. Yeah. I’m just taking this little\, a little\, there’s a little gray bar right there\, but it doesn’t mean that one for our app. \nYeah. Oh yeah. Yep. It is one quarter or a half you can’t so you’re not going to be able to yeah\, if I go over here\, it’s probably going to close it. Yeah. Yeah. So it’s not like the Mac where you can go infinitely. Yup. Yup. All right. Well\, yeah. Before you leave a numbers\, is it possible if you have a narrow numbers document\, let’s say like ABC. \nIt goes on to several pages. Can you have multiple columns like you do in pages so that you can show something to go to the second page and fluid to same page? Am I being confused? I’m sorry. In pages\, you can have multiple columns in numbers. If you have a series of rows that goes to a second or third or fourth page\, we’re going to display like a second page of the first is a second column. \nA little bit seminar. Okay. I’ll call you back. Alright. Um\, I know what you’re talking about. Uh\, I’m going to say\, no\, all you can do is resize. Um\, if I go to edit here\, what I’m able to. Do is pinch to zoom. Well\, you’re not looking at my iPad. Sorry. Um\, what your\, you know\, but yeah\, what you would\, let’s just say this\, you know\, we make a really long hair and you wanted to carry that over to a different\, um\, sheet or something like that. \nI’m going to say no\, it doesn’t do that continuous. Um\, I know exactly what you’re talking about with pages. As far as I know you can’t do that at numbers. So is it possible to open the same file twice? Let’s try it. So I have tables and chart here open\, right? We’re going to go\, side-by-side put that to the left. \nI’m going to go into numbers and table and chart. \nNope. It’s not letting me do it. Somewhat related question. Uh\, and it could be grief. I’m one of those people that\, uh\, used the\, uh\, Microsoft versions of word and Excel in on a Mac forever and ever\, and ever now they’re starting to withhold and not upgrade the\, the Mac versions and having I’m in a position now where I’m being forced to learn more about numbers. \nAnd what’s the other one pages pages. And I’m looking for some\, where do I go to find some excellent tutorial? ’cause I don’t\, I don’t see that many similarities where I could just make it a transition from one to the other like that. I’ve got to learn a little bit more. Yeah. Um\, well\, I’m\, I’m biased. I have some on it. \nThey’re a little bit older\, but they’ll\, they’ll still get you the basics. If you go to my site\, Dan’s Tutorials. I don’t compare. Um\, you know\, it’s not like this is how you do it in word compared to pages. Um\, and\, uh\, yeah\, uh\, YouTube\, I’m sure there’s\, there’s gotta be something out there and YouTube land. Uh\, but now\, now not\, not\, not like what you’re looking for is I’m coming from Microsoft word. \nWhat do I need to know about pages? You know\, somebody right. Kind of thing. Yeah. Yeah. Unfortunately I don’t\, I don’t know of anything like that. So again\, this is frying that question up\, but not here. So on the two. Um\, oh\, yes. Did I S yup. There it is. That’s the next one. So what is toolkit? I mean\, I don’t know what toolkit is. \nOh\, okay. I\, it was on my\, um\, it was on my new\, my new\, uh\, Mac that I bought. Uh\, it must be\, it must be\, I’m not sure. Yeah. That’s what I hit too. When I want to back up\, back up with my\, with a blue\, uh\, I\, I always go pick out the bitch disc on the shoes\, in it back and up. Now\, when I clicked on\, when I click on the\, uh\, to back up to get comes up and it shows the backup plus a much. \nAnd it has something that’s new. So I thought that\, no\, my\, okay. So I think\, and this is only a guess\, I think what is happening there is the hard drive. You know\, when you buy a hard drive\, they come with their own backup utility. So my guess is\, is that tool kit is for that particular hard drive could be know Seagate or something. \non the same three. Uh\, what I\, what I recommend\, um\, I never use those. Uh\, I always use time machine and I\, as a backup back on with\, with Chris here\, um\, w and maybe I’ll create a lesson on this with this new style that I’m doing things I’m able to. I think I’m able to do smart stuff like this. Uh\, we use carbon copy cloner at the ma at the. \nWhich is another backup utility\, you know\, it’s much like time machine. Um\, so\, and\, uh\, it’s not proprietary to the drive. You know\, like your toolkit might only work on Seagate or Western digital or whatever\, whoever made it and\, you know\, kind of thing. I’m not a big fan of those. So\, um\, time machine number one\, and then a super-duper in CLO carbon copy cloner on my number two and three now. \nSo the best way to get\, so what I do is I\, um\, erased the hard drive\, going to disk utility and erase it. And then I tell time machine to use it as a backup. Chris just saw how that all worked. So\, um\, he raced it and yep. I’ll find out which one of my\, uh\, portable drugs\, justice. Thank you. \ntime machine\, you know\, time machine really is\, is for\, for it. It really it’s. It’s a great\, it’s a great program. And then if you just need something a little more powerful\, like at the school\, what we want to do is create\, um\, bootable images. Um\, and time machine won’t do that. So then we use carbon copy cloner\, but for the most part\, time machine really does work well. \nWell\, um\, everyone to mute their microphones\, this Hanford people are muted. Oh yeah. Let’s see here. Hi Tom. I didn’t see you there. So\, um\, yeah\, let’s see here. Where’s my\, I was going to figure this out. I don’t know how to mute everyone better. All right. What’s that? Or disciplines\, window participants. I always look under me. \nI look at each individual window in the upper right-hand corner. And you can click on the little\, the blue square. Yeah. It’s uh\, there. \nAll right. Hmm. Um\, it seems pretty quiet right now. So we’ll continue. My next actually is as Tom\, um\, you asked about a snow leopard with and I could not find anything on that. And I was on a seminar seminar webinar\, whatever you want to call it with\, um\, a Mac user group over in Oregon. And they had somebody that\, uh\, was from parallels. \nAnd\, uh\, if I met rec if my recollection is right\, he said\, basically they can only go back so far. Um\, so at least with parallels and I did do a quick search for a couple of the other ones. And\, um\, I’m going to say\, you know\, it seems like there’s a lot. And I don’t know if it’s just the software or\, or what\, but\, uh\, they come on and go back so far\, especially with the \nSo from what I could find it’s no. Hm. I think the went back just before about\, yeah\, yeah. About five versions back. Yup. Um\, and do you think the iPad pros assume be able to run Mac apps? You know\, I would love that personally. I really would. Um\, but I don’t see it. I think apple is kind of\, uh\, um\, stuck on a iPad. \nOh\, us\, you know\, and doing what they need to do with it. I wouldn’t be surprised maybe\, you know\, five\, 10 years down the road\, if there’s kind of a\, a\, I do see the two kind of moving together\, but not in the near future. Uh\, But\, uh\, it is\, I do have an M one Mac\, uh\, from the school and it is amazing. Uh\, it’s kind of cool that you can run some of the iPad apps and I phone apps on the Mac. \nSo I do like that and I’d like to\, I’d like to see the reverse. Um\, but\, uh\, not yet. I don’t see anything\, anything indicating that that’s going to happen. So that’s good. Interesting. Since the iPad is now\, I’ve had pros and I running it in one shift. So you radically\, and\, you know\, earlier I was talking about screen-sharing\, I\, I take my iPad\, um\, over to my in-laws and I can control my computer on my it’s. \nIt’s almost like I have my Mac. I mean\, screen-sharing\, but I can do it\, especially if you have a pencil\, you can use the pencil as a\, you know\, a mouse or whatever\, you just tap on the menu and yeah\, sure. It’s a little small\, but that’s what a monitor is\, you know\, it’s a small monitor\, so yeah\, it works great. \nSo it’s not that it’s the\, it’s not that it can’t be. So\, thank you. All right. Um\, we’re on slide 13 of like 16. So we’re getting\, getting close to the end here. Um\, can you go over how to group the tabs in safari? So I’m going to go back over to my Mac here. I’m assuming this is on the Mac and basically with Monterey\, what you are able to do is\, uh\, group different tabs together. \nAnd then if I go up here under\, let’s see here\, this little guy here opens up the sidebar. You’re going to see I have here tab groups. So what I’m able to do is open up a number of tabs in a group. So what I could do is\, uh\, I have three or four websites\, maybe it’s news websites. I can open those up in my news group\, but when I work\, I can open up all of my work ones in the work group. \nSo now\, instead of having a browser that could have 10\, 20 different tabs open\, what you’re able to do is separate those out. So essentially you just have to open up this little\, little guy here to get your side bar\, and then you’re going to see your different tabs here. If you want to create a new tab\, what you are\, let’s see here. \nWe’re already going. Let’s see. So if I back up\, so now I’m looking at all my news tabs and you’re going to see I’m looking at Yahoo mail as well as Wikipedia. And if I go to work\, I have. Work tabs and I can go back and forth. So now they’re not being\, being mixed up or anything like that. I can drag a tab from one to the other. \nSo if I have\, let’s just say this apple one is news. I can drag this over to the news tab\, and now it’s no longer in the work tab. And so maybe I put a tab in the wrong spot. So\, um\, that’s basically how they work to create a new tab group. What you’ll do is go up to file in the menu bar and you’re going to see new empty tab group. \nAnd then if I have a\, what I’m able to do with this\, let’s say I had a number of tabs open here. I can create a tab group based on these tabs. So you could two different ways you could go about it. You can create a new tab group. It’s like security in a new empty folder\, and then put the tabs in there that you want. \nIt’s not going to remember those tabs. It doesn’t bookmark them. So if you were to close that tab in that group. So if I go back over to work here and I close Apple\, it’s not bookmark\, I opened up a work here. It’s not gonna\, it’s\, it’s gonna disappear\, but basically you can create a folder\, a tab group\, and then add\, go to that and add the tabs that you want to have open. \nOr what you could do is open up all the tabs that you want to be in that group. And then go up under file and create a new tab group based on those tabs. And then all you have to do is just switch back and forth between them to go to the different tab groups. So that’s a basic rundown of how it works. \nYou can do the same thing on the iPad. Again\, you need iPadOS 15. So if I go to my iPad here and the iPhone\, but I’m probably wouldn’t use it too much on the iPhone. So five I’m in my. Site\, you know\, site here. And if I go up to the little sidebar here\, you’re going to see I have my tabs. And if I want to create a new tab group\, let’s\, uh\, click on the little plus here and I can create a new empty tab group\, basically the same thing as\, um\, as how it works on\, on the Mac. \nAgain\, you do need to have Monterey and iPadOS 15 for this to work. So\, \nuh\, let’s see here next. \nUh\, this is coming from\, uh\, Vince Lombardi. I’m assuming as cheese appropriate Christmas gift in Michigan and only if it’s Dutch cheese being that I’m in Holland. So\, \nbut\, uh\, no. I’m not\, I’m not\, I’m not a chiefs fan anyway\, my friends can’t\, they\, I\, my\, my thing is cheeses overrated. Like if they want double cheese on a pizza\, it’s like\, ah\, seriously\, or the cheese dips\, I’m just not a huge\, and they can’t understand it. They don’t get it like it’s overrated. So not that I don’t like it\, but it’s true. \nAll right. Um\, so this was these\, uh\, last couple ones came at the end. I had it\, I had Steve’s there toward more towards the end\, but these came in after\, um\, my iPad says again that\, um\, I’m out of storage. Problem is a podcast\, you know\, they jump on and fill up the iPad. So there’s a few different settings that you can use with the iPad art with the iPhone podcasts. \nSo let’s go over to my iPad here\, and we’re going to take a look at a couple of. So if I go to my settings app\, we’re first going to go to my settings app here. There’s one setting in here and what we need to do is go over to podcasts here. And what you’ll want to do is make sure that remove played. \nLet’s see here\, try it again. There remove played downloads\, um\, is turned on when this is turned on. Once that podcast has been played\, it’s going to remove it. So that’s step number one\, no reason to keep any podcasts on your iPad once you’ve listened to them. Okay. But what about\, you know\, if you don’t listen to them that often all of a sudden it could fill up\, you know\, if you’re listening\, you know\, you subscribe to podcasts and\, uh\, you know\, it has 10 episodes\, you know\, What\, what you can do is tell the iPad to only download three of those at a time. \nYou know? So then\, uh\, it’s not going to fill up the iPad and the way you do that\, as you do this through the podcasts app. So I’m going to go over to my podcasts app here. It’s in my doc. And I like\, wait\, wait\, don’t tell me\, so I’m just going to go to wait\, wait\, don’t tell me\, oops. I don’t want to play it. Ah\, yeah\, I got it. \nThat’s not what I wanted to do. All right. Browse library. And here we go. So I’m looking at this show. So basically what they call it. And if we go up to the upper right-hand corner of the check mark community\, that I’m subscribed to it. But if we go to the three dots where we have more\, you’re going to see. \nSettings. This is where we can set various settings for the iPad or for podcasts\, I should say. Sorry\, first of all\, down at the bottom here\, we have automatic downloads. Okay. Turn that on because you would do want it to download any\, um\, any episodes. That’s good. So then you don’t have to be on\, uh\, on the network to listen to him or anything like that. \nBut here\, what you can do is limit the downloads. This could be key. So\, you know\, you might want to set it to where it only downloads the\, uh\, three most recent episodes. So then it’s not going to fill up the iPad. If you turn it off\, what it may do is\, you know\, if you. 10 different shows that you’re subscribing to. \nAnd each one of these come out weekly\, or\, you know\, some of\, some of these podcasts come out daily\, it could fill it up really quick. So limit how many of the current show\, how many episodes it can download. Um\, and then you can also have it remove\, play downloads again\, like what we saw in the settings app. \nUm\, but what this will do is remove any downloads after they finished playing. You know\, you can see it as on by default because I turn it on in the settings app. If you did want it to save them for a specific show\, you could do that by just turning it off here and it’ll turn it off for that particular show. \nBut I would just recommend leaving it on. I mean\, once you’ve listened to it again\, remove it. You can always listen to it later. It’s going to have to re-download it\, but there’s no reason for it to take up space. So the key is going into the settings for that particular podcast. Just go under the three dots. \nAnd then under settings\, I would say probably the big thing is limit the downloads. So hopefully that\, what that will do is that will clear up\, you know\, take up less room. So question followup. So\, uh\, does that mean that it’s looking at just the most\, just the most recent\, and then if you wanted to get one from an older\, you D you could download it yourself\, but yet it will replace the ones that have previously downloaded it once was recent\, but now it’s not recent. \nYep. And then what it’ll do is it will\, um\, download one of\, one of the older ones as you\, as you listen to it. It’ll just keep filling up that\, that inventory\, I guess you would say I never have more than three\, but you always have the three most recent. Yup. Yup. I believe that’s how it works. Yep. Um\, all right. \nSo the last question here is a possible to send a link for a file on iCloud Drive to a recipient without the recipient needing a password. Um\, yes. Yes\, it is. So basically\, um\, I did this on the iPad\, but let’s see if I can do this on the Mac\, because I’m assuming this is on the Mac is\, uh\, is Doug here? Okay. \nI’m assuming it’s on the Mac because he mentioned Mac PC\, but it works basically the same way. Um\, so when you share a file\, the first thing you’ll need to do is go into your iCloud Drive. So I’m in my iCloud Drive here\, and let’s say I wanted to share this file here. If I control\, click on it\, you’re going to see share. \nAnd then all I have to do is just go over to share files. And when I share this file\, I have a few different options. Hopefully there it is. And essentially what you can do is you can set it to who can access it and it’s people you invite. So that is going to be anybody that you invite\, you know\, that they’re going to need\, you know\, need to accept the invitation. \nWhat\, what\, uh\, Doug is looking for is he just wants to send the link. He doesn’t want to add them to anything like that. So if you click on this\, you can say anyone with a link\, and now all you need to do\, make sure that they can make changes. And if you copy the link\, you can send it to them via email messages\, whatever. \nOr you can just click on the appropriate\, you know\, how you want to contact them. And then they will be able to access that file with. Having an invitation or\, um\, um\, needing a password or anything like that. All they need to do is just click on that link. Now I hop\, obviously it’s a\, that’s less secure because\, um\, they could pass this link onto someone else. \nAnd then\, you know\, so you you’re\, you’re leaving it open\, you know\, but if you just need to share something real quick or you trust the person\, you know\, absolutely. It’s\, it’s the link. So I copied this link. Um\, let’s go into messages. It’s oh yeah\, let’s cancel this. And now I’m going to go into safari. The link is one of those long. \nIt’s not anything that anybody could figure out. So\, you know\, it’s\, it generates a random\, I don’t want to go full screen. Sorry about this. And went full screen. That’s not what I want. So. Okay. Um\, so essentially it\, um\, it’s\, uh\, it’s just like a random link\, so it’s not anything that anybody could guess. So\, and this is Perry. \nI’m going to check out now. So that’s the last question anyway\, so\, okay. So I just wanted to thank you for a session I’ve ever attended with you too\, and I’m totally impressed. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks for the show. Tell your friends. \nAll right. Any additional questions? Yeah. Um\, yeah\, let’s go for it. Well\, let’s make them\, let’s make them quick. If you ever tried the wrist cam and he has two cameras on a new band for your Apple Watch. No\, I’ve never heard of it. You got a problem. Got a $300\, but it has two different hammer nails into the band that attach it to your Apple Watch. \nHuh? Oh\, interesting. I know my wife wants to have a\, she saw it on Facebook. She has a MacBook Pro and she also has a windows computer\, two different\, um\, part-time job she has. And\, um\, she was just helping a friend\, uh\, who had knee surgery\, spent the last four nights over\, over at her place. And she took her monitor\, you know\, kind of thing. \nBut apparently there’s this thing where you can clip on two monitors onto a\, uh\, MacBook Pro or a probably on a windows come shirts. Generic enough to where\, if it’s pretty much any computer and a folds up. So basically what she’ll be able to do is just unfolded and she’s going to have. Yeah\, I’ve I haven’t heard about that on the Apple Watch. \nSo\, um\, I see Kevin’s hand is up. Let me go through this chat here a minute\, Kevin. Oh\, you actually have it in there. So we’ll come to you in a minute. Uh\, Tom uses jumped desktop\, which is\, uh\, probably similar to what I was using with screens. Um\, you know\, there’s various solutions out there. Um\, but they work. \nI’m sure it probably works really well. I mean\, um\, you know\, essentially what you want to do is install software on the Mac B at this jump. And then\, uh\, you install the software on the other Mac or on your iPad or on your iPhone. I’ve controlled my Mac from my iPhone\, you know\, through these screen-sharing and\, you know\, I use like say screens\, but\, you know\, jump is another solution\, a lot of solutions out there for that they’ve been around for for years. \nSo yeah\, it actually works on an iPhone\, iPad\, Mac\, Android\, or windows. There you go. \nAnd they’ve really\, you know\, they run in the background and\, um\, you know\, like I’ve ever run in the background on this and it really does work. It doesn’t take up a lot of resources and I don’t use it that often\, but boy\, when I do need to use it\, it comes in handy. So\, um\, all right. Uh\, my video is legging Barry\, you know\, said\, yeah\, I’m working on\, I got to work on that. \nUm\, and let’s see. Have you ever thought any more having a maze for iPad only? Yeah. As\, um\, this new year\, you know\, I’m using some new software and things like that\, and I’m kind of reformulating how I\, how I want to do some of this stuff. Um\, cause I like what these keynotes and these\, this slide here\, basically what I’m doing here. \nThis is a keynote you’d have to seam\, I’ll have to do a setup\, but\, um\, I have. An iPad that I can go to on my left here\, my Mac in front of me\, obviously my\, um\, phone here that I can share. So I can just click a button with a\, as somebody\, some people saw with my stream deck and I can just click a button to\, you know\, make it snow. \nAnd\, um\, I also have another iPad here using keynote\, and then it’s plugged into an HTMI thing. My Bob\, and that’s what you’re seeing. This is all done through keynote\, but back to your thing\, Kevin\, um\, yeah\, basically what this\, this helps me keep myself organized as well. So\, you know\, basically what I could do is I could do\, uh\, you know\, um\, uh\, just questions about. \nThe iPad\, you know\, where the next day I may. And I never really thought about that. So maybe\, um\, maybe I’ll maybe I’ll do that where an AMA is solely focused on a single device. I think that’s a good idea. So yes\, I will say yes\, I will. I will do that. So\, um\, so all right\, Kevin\, you did\, was that your question and Kevin or? \nYeah\, I saw a long one here and I didn’t want to\, I didn’t want to\, I didn’t want to read it\, but\, um\, you know\, cause I don’t\, I don’t want to sit here and read in front while\, while everyone’s\, while I’m on camera. So yeah. So the first one is\, is this webinar here we’re talking about. Okay. So some webinars like this one\, um\, say somebody comes into the room like thumb before\, whatever I want to raise it all the way down the volume. \nI can’t do it. I mean\, like for instance\, right now I can\, I\, I can hit the lower button volume button to go ahead and go down. It will not. Well\, the lowest certain point\, and this happens on several different webinars that I’ve been part of. Do you know why that happens? And do you know the work around for that or not really? \nNope. I do not know. I would say try try it through the control center once and see if that\, that doesn’t work too. That’s the control center did the same thing that it doesn’t. Uh\, so at any rate\, you know\, if you come across and know why\, as I said\, it’s not just yours\, it’s others. Well\, we\, and you’ll\, you’ll like this. \nWe\, um\, we just got 500 iPads in over at the school. Um\, we’re not going fully. What I want to do is I want to have all the students be on iPads\, but\, uh\, we’re not going that far yet. Still. I’m still planning my seeds\, but\, um\, you know\, the teachers are all going to\, so basically I’m going\, I’m going to be able to get along. \nFeedback on iPad. And they’re obviously doing a lot of one zooms and things like that with\, uh\, you know\, the pandemic going on. Um\, so\, uh\, I’m going to be able to get basically a lot of real usage\, you know? So if there’s patterns like what you’re seeing\, you know\, we’re gonna have\, we’ll have to figure it out\, you know\, for the\, for the school. \nSo I’ll definitely\, anytime you see something like that\, I’ll just keep an ear open for it at the school as these teachers start to use them. So yeah. The other question is you go into zoom preferences down to audio. You can reduce both your gain and your volume\, but he can’t turn the volume all the way down. \nRight\, right\, right. It all the way down. Yeah. I can\, it does adjust some\, but it will not. \nUm\, so the other question was\, and I sort of asked this\, I think for\, for\, um\, where do you\, uh\, like if I wanted to download\, um\, a movie or. Whatever. Okay. Where does it get stored? And I think I gave the example that I have two movies\, maybe three now\, I don’t know\, from Amazon prime. And I\, the only way I can ask the other purchase\, um\, the only way I can access them\, I have to click on Amazon prime. \nIn other words\, it does not save them. So I knew that there was another\, um\, actually there was one TV program and one\, I called the movie\, but it was actually a documentary. And I finally found it\, um\, by going on to\, um\, uh\, I guess\, um\, what is it now\, apple or something? I can’t have to go back and work. In other words\, when I buy these things\, I’m assuming they’re downloading to one or two places\, either in my iPad or to they are\, they are\, they are downloading\, but it’s\, uh\, it’s not like a. \nAnd I like the old school way of thinking. And this is\, this is a debate that people are having when you\, uh\, when you buy a movie from apple as an example\, um\, if apple loses the rights to that movie\, they have pulled\, revoked it to where you can’t watch that movie anymore. Um\, even though you bought it\, you know\, and it’s not only apple\, I’m not picking on apple that\, you know\, it’s\, it’s\, it’s a Hollywood licensing\, um\, thing that they\, so yeah\, when you download something through Amazon prime\, it’s\, you have to access it through Amazon prime. \nMost likely you’re not going to be able to find that raw movie file that mov file. Um\, because the reason is is they don’t\, they don’t\, you could easily distribute that\, distribute that\, you know\, so they keep that all internal\, you know\, the only way you’re going to be able to get that it’s through the Amazon prime app\, which I just\, just heard a couple of days ago. \nWith the deal with Disney and YouTube and nap. And if you’ve saved any of those Disney movies to DVR and with the split\, they’re gone from the DVR even. Yeah. Yeah. That’s why they don’t let you just download them to your computer cause they want to have control over it. And I don’t mean that in a\, you know\, it’s just\, you know\, they they’re protecting their\, uh\, you know\, uh\, product and\, uh\, um\, they just don’t want you it’s too easy to copy it and \nyeah\, no\, I\, I you’re right. There’s a\, there’s a big debate on yeah. I mean\, it’s okay if they wanted to put code in it\, that would prevent it from it. That’s fine. I don’t have any problem with that. It’s just that when I paid for it\, but those two examples\, because the third example is\, so if I download a video. \nFrom another website\, somebody else else’s to say or whatever\, where is it going to get downloaded? Now I know to get what I bought from Amazon prime. I got to go to Amazon prime and know what I got from Africa. If it’s from\, if it’s from safari\, if it’s in\, Safaria like through a website\, it’s going to go to the downloads folder on your iPad. \nSo you just go into the files happen. There’s going to be a downloads folder. That’s where it’s going to go. Okay. Would it be in a download or would it be under on the photos when you go into the photo lab? Nope. It’ll be an downloads folder if it comes through the website. It\, um\, if you\, if you purchased a movie through the website\, it could\, it could go into the photos app too. \nIf it’s a video\, like let’s say I shared a video. Um\, and you could save that to the photos app\, but typically if you download it\, you know\, use the\, I’m using the term download\, um\, loosely\, but you know\, there’s going to be a button there there’s I purchased this movie or this documentary or whatever through\, you know\, in fact\, uh\, I can’t do it. \nI can’t use that as an example. Yeah\, I could. There’s a\, um\, video that\, uh\, Steve shared on\, uh\, uh\, Newton that you can\, uh\, purchase. You have to download it through safari. That would\, if I were to purchase that\, it would download it into my downloads folder and then you can move it. Yup. Yup. Then it’s your movie. \nYep\, exactly. That’s old school. That’s that’s the right way. Oh\, okay. I’ll just send it this there too. Just\, just more feedback for you. So if I’m looking at your view and you’re right in the small ones in this\, you know\, the small section you’re\, I can see your. If I’m looking at the larger one\, that’s where you’re\, that’s where there’s not\, it’s not saying you’re really slow motion there\, but your normal motion in the little one\, the little one\, the little picture and picture your\, your normal\, the\, but in the large one\, your\, your\, your lag. \nSo right now it’s lagging\, it’s lagging in the large one. Okay\, good. Thank you. That\, that helps. Okay. So I will\, uh\, I will\, I will look into that. So no running really slow. Good. Did it. Okay. I’m going to\, I’m going to turn the snow off. Good. You can be my\, you can be my test. Is that better? Yeah\, but it’s not as bad. \nOkay. How about when\, uh\, this little guy comes up? Yeah\, you’re still slumped. The little picture picture is fine. Okay. Yeah. So I will look at that. Um\, thank you. I appreciate that. Cause\, uh\, that\, that will help me figure out what’s going on here. So. All right. Let’s um\, let’s call that a wrap and everyone have a Merry Christmas happy holidays. \nAnd\, uh\, next\, next week I will be doing one on what’s. You know\, it’s going to be more of a class\, not the AMA\, but it’s going to be a what’s new and Monterey\, just going over some of the features with Monterrey and\, uh\, hopefully I’ll be able to figure out how I’m not lagging here and get my audio caught up to my\, to my mouth. \nSo. All right. Thanks everyone for being patient. And we’ll talk to everyone later. \nMerry Christmas. \nShow moreShow less

SUMMARY:What's New in macOS Monterey Class
DESCRIPTION:Join me in my class on what is new in macOS Monterey! Apple introduced a new macOS this past fall\, and even though it looks similar to Big Sur\, Apple added some great new features! A few I use on a daily basis. With macOS Monterey you can add tags to Notes and Reminders\, create quick notes\, and schedule FaceTime calls as well has invite people who are not on Apple devices to a FaceTime Call. But also Apple added some smaller features\, but much welcome features. This includes showing the menu bar while working with an app in full screen\, adding the folder icon back to Finder windows (I really welcomed this back!)\, and even changing the color of the cursor. I going over these features and more in this class. \nSome of what I cover include: \n\nScheduling FaceTime Calls\nCreating links for FaceTime calls so anyone can join (including people who are not on an Apple device)\nPhoto Collections in Messages\nShared with you\nTab Groups in Safari\nFocus Mode\nQuick Notes and Tags in Notes\nAirplay to a Mac\nAnd a few other smaller items including showing folder icons in a Finder Window and changing the color of the cursor\n\nNOTE: The Audio dropped (due to my error) during the chapter introductions. The audio comes back for any of my demonstrations though\, you just miss out on my introductions. Sorry about that! \nThis event is reserved for All-Access Members.  \nAre you a member? SUMMARY:Creating Presentations with Keynote on the Mac Class
DESCRIPTION:Watch my class on Creating Presentations with Keynote on the Mac! Apple’s Keynote app has been around for years and is rumored to be developed for Keynotes hosted by Steve Jobs. If you have never watched one of his Keynotes\, I highly encourage you to YouTube them. They are the gold standard when it comes to presentation and are what a lot of presenters aspire to copy. Why? They are simple yet full of information and entertaining to watch. Obviously that is because of Steve Jobs himself\, but also it’s the tools he uses. In the later years\, most of his presentation screens were created with Keynote\, an app that comes free on every Mac and is available for free on the iPad and iPhone. With Keynote\, you can create simple and beautiful presentation to support what you are saying. You can add transitions between slide\, add builds\, and export them as images or as a movie. You can even add a background audio track. I go over these features and more in this class. \nSome of what I cover include: \n\nA Look at the Interface\nCreating a Slideshow\nWorking with Master Slides\nAdding and Formatting Objects to a Slide\nViewing a Slideshows Object List\nAdding a Soundtrack to your Slideshow\nAdding Transitions between Slides\nAdding Builds to Objects\nExporting Options\nPresenting your Slideshow\nQ&A\n\nThis event is reserved for All-Access Members.  \nAre you a member?
